Summary

Spider-Man 4 could potentially unite characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios, The Defenders, and Sony Pictures due to the introduction of the multiverse concept. Fans are excited about the possibility of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning alongside Tom Holland to defeat villains from previous Spider-Man movies. A new fan poster features a lineup of heroes, including Spider-Man, Daredevil, and other street-level characters, potentially hinting at a plot involving Wilson Fisk and the dangers of crime in New York.

A fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe imagines what Spider-Man 4 might look like, uniting Spider-Man, Daredevil, and more street-level heroes from the universes of Marvel Studios, The Defenders and Sony Pictures. Now that the MCU has officially introduced the concept of the multiverse, pretty much anything is possible. From bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield to join Tom Holland in defeating legendary villains from all the Spider-Man movies, to showing different versions of characters like Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter or John Krasinski’s Reed Richards. So, fans are wondering if it will finally be time to unite the Sony Pictures franchise and that of Marvel Studios in Tom Holland’s next adventure as Peter Parker.

Artist Ben Solo Cup makes the long-awaited crossover a reality in a fan poster for the upcoming MCU Spider-Man movie, featuring a long gallery of heroes facing Kingpin:

At the top of the poster we can see Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, and Sydney Sweeney as Black Cat (though she will be joining the Sony universe as Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman in Madame Web). Beneath them, Daredevil leads the MCU’s street-level heroes, a group that includes Moon Knight, The Punisher, Echo, Kate Bishop, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Which is certainly the kind of team-up that Marvel fans would love to see on screen.

For now, plot details for the fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland are being kept under wraps, although it has already been confirmed that the film is in development. At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter had to accept being forgotten by MJ, Jacob and everyone who knows him, so the next film is expected to find him living a lonely life, fighting crime in the streets of New York.

With series like Echo and Daredevil: Born Again establishing the foundations of the dangers of crime in the city, led by Kingpin, it would not be strange for the nextSpidey film to bring together these characters facing Wilson Fisk to prevent him from taking over New York.

In fact, in the description the artist shared with the poster, he describes his own pitch for Spider-Man 4‘s story and it sounds pretty good:

“This is my pitch! I hope they adapt the Devil’s Reign storyline where Fisk becomes Mayor of New York and outlaws all vigilantes. We already know Fisk is running for Mayor in DD: Born Again, and this movie could act as a big epic conclusion to that story, bringing together all of the street level Marvel heroes for an epic crossover!”

If this plot or any other that’s similar end up being real, the first clues will be featured in Echo, the Hawkeye spinoff that premieres on January 10, 2024, and whose first trailer teases a violent and dark story, with Kingpin as the big villain. The show is expected to connect directly to Daredevil: Born Again, as Charlie Cox will appear in the series as Matt Murdock, something that was also seen in the trailer.
