Rob Liefeld, the co-creator of Marvel Comics’ Deadpool, has claimed Deadpool & Wolverine has some of the best action sequences since Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The same day Deadpool & Wolverine got a new trailer, Liefeld took to X/Twitter to hype the movie up further. “I’ve been telling everyone how great this movie looks and it’s the BEST action since Winter Soldier,” he wrote. “The car fight! Forest fight! The ********** fight! It’ll be up there with the best Comic Book Film of all time!”

Liefeld, who announced in February that he is retiring from Deadpool after one last “crazy” story this summer, reiterated and expanded on these comments during a recent episode of his Robservations with Rob Leifeld podcast, saying that the blood-splattered trailer only offers a glimpse of the “killer action scenes” to come.

“This movie has the best action in any comic book superhero movie.

“Look, if you think that there’s stuff out there being spoiled, there’s so much stuff that is yet to come that is going to blow your mind,” Liefeld teased about the third Deadpool movie, coming to theaters this July. “But let’s go with what you did see, and you saw a whole lot of Wolverine and Deadpool basing off great action.

“All the Deadpool movies have great action, but the expectation for this is obviously higher,” he added. “There are so many killer action sequences in this movie. And you are getting a taste, a hint of what’s to come. I really believe this movie has the best action in any comic book superhero movie.”

Echoing his earlier statements, Liefeld went on to praise 2014’s Winter Solider for having “the best action ever” but claimed that Deadpool & Wolverine is “up there” with those top-tier comic book superhero movies, though this one, unlike other MCU entries, is rated R, which means it can feature more explicit violence.

The trailer showed quick-fire shots of the action sequences Liefeld might be referencing, including a fight between Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, which looks to be a callback to the bust-up that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man had with Joe Manganiello’s Flash Thompson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.

All of the evidence so far points to Deadpool & Wolverine being a movie that will pack a punch when it hits theaters on July 26. There also looks to be some Strange sorcery, unexpected cameos, and lots of details for fans to uncover, building up to the release of Avengers: Secret Wars, which will cap off Phase 6 of the MCU.
