Dylan O’Brien as Nightwing joins Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in a DC Universe meets Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art. Cox has returned as Matt Murdock for a few projects since appearing in 2021’s Spider-Man: no Way Home, with Daredevil: Born Again‘s story set to give him his first lead role at Marvel Studios. On the other hand, O’Brien is the most popular fancast for Nightwing, though the actor has yet to play Dick Grayson.
On Instagram, artists @arifinity_ and @bensolo_cup teamed up to create an exciting Marvel/DC crossover art of O’Brien as Nightwing patrolling rooftops alongside Cox’s Daredevil.
Both actors look great with modern versions of Daredevil and Nightwing’s costumes. Cox sports a more classic look as Daredevil in the fan art than he has on Netflix’s Daredevil or the MCU. O’Brien looks pitch-perfect as Dick Grayson, making the case for his casting as the Nightwing of the DC Universe’s Bat-Family.
A Nightwing movie was initially planned as a spin-off to Batman & Robin (1997) with Chris O’Donnell, and a DCEU Nightwing project was canceled after its announcement in 2017.

While they won’t be as prolific as previous years for myriad reasons, there are still plenty of superhero movies releasing in 2024 to look forward to.
An MCU/DCU Crossover Would Most Likely Break Records
Marvel and DC have been facing each other at the box office over the past decade, with the MCU starting first with 2008’s Iron Man. The DCEU then premiered in 2013 with Man of Steel, but by that point, the MCU had already laid the entire foundation for its most important heroes and assembled them in 2012’s The Avengers. DC then tried to catch on to what Marvel was doing, fast-tracking the debuts of its most famous heroes and pushing out a series of controversial films.
Given the DCEU’s mixed to negative public reception, the MCU crossing over with it would not have made much sense for Marvel. However, that has now changed, with the DCEU being replaced by the new DC Universe. DC Studios’ James Gunn has commented on a Marvel and DC crossover. The creative chief of the new DCU said, “I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC].”
James Gunn famously worked on Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise before spearheading the new DCU.
Gunn went on to reveal that talks about an MCU and DCU crossover have even happened already, saying, “I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it.” However, he believes that is still in the distant future. Gunn is right in that aspect, as the DCU is only just starting and needs to be able to stand on its own before deciding to join forces with the MCU. Besides, Marvel is currently going through its most criticized phase, and the studio has to solve its issues before Nightwing and Daredevil or other DC and Marvel heroes can interact.
