Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will require a minimum of 98GB of storage space, making the web-swinging sequel a big-un. Compared to the original game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is twice the size, and this is before you consider updates and the potential for Insomniac Games to tweak the final product and add a few cheeky gigabytes to the game before release day.

Reminder to self: start deleting those hefty Call of Duty files and make some more space. As shared by a Spider-Man fan account on Twitter, some of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Limited Edition PS5s have gone rogue, with players sharing images of their gorgeous-looking consoles out of the box a day before launch.

The original Marvel’s Spider-Man debuted on the PS4 in 2018 and sat comfortably on the last-gen rigs at a more comfortable 45GB. Of course, last-gen games were typically found to be smaller without the graphical and technical advancements of the PS5. Spider-Man: Miles Morales occupied 54GB on the PS5 upon release in 2020.

In the small print on the side of the box, text confirms the storage size, but you might need to squint. That’s after you’ve stared longingly at the console’s stunning design. All that pretty black and red.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to launch on the Playstation 5 on October 20, 2023, so put a big ol’ circle on the date in your calendars. Developed by Insomniac Games, the sequel will be published by Sony, with the standard edition going for $69.99/£69.99.
