Marvel Studios, which decided to retool its much anticipated reboot of Netflix’s Daredevil series, has apparently confirmed that one of the main characters, originally set to be replaced in the reboot, will be played by the original actress.

Last year, word leaked that Disney+‘s Daredevil: Born Again had quietly recast the role of Wilson Fisk’s wife, Vanessa, with Sandrine Holt.

Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer brought the comic book character to life in the Netflix series.

When the series shifted to Disney+, Ayelet was initially replaced. But after the studio decided to tweak the show after the writer’s strike, several character changes were made, including the reintroduction of the 54-year-old.

An image from the set of Daredevil: Born Again revealed the return, showing Ayelet talking with Kingpin Wilson Fisk, played by Vincent D’Onofrio.

It had been announced that the role of Vanessa had been recast with House of Cards actor Sandrine Holt.

The casting reversal comes as the soft reboot has announced a slew of other fan favorites returning, including Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher.

Marvel Studio’s paused production on Daredevil: Born Again in June, due to the writer’s strike.

The season was supposed to feature 18 episodes, and less than half of them were filmed.

This led Marvel executives, including the head of the company Kevin Feige, to look over the footage, where they decided the show wasn’t working.

So Marvel let go of the show’s head writers, Chris Ord and Matt Corman and the directors of the series for a total reboot.

The previous version was reportedly in the vein of a legal procedural that did not resemble the Netflix version.

Matt Murdock reportedly didn’t even appear in his Daredevil costume until Episode 4.

One Marvel re-casting that is sticking is the replacement of Jonathan Majors as the villain Kang the Conqueror.

On Monday, Jonathan was sentenced for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, last year.

Jonathan avoided prison and was sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling.

Following the verdict, Grace released a damning statement.

“He will hurt other women,” she blasted. “This is a man who thinks he is above the law. I had a career and life and body, all of which he’s damaged.”

Jonathan declined to comment during his sentencing.

While he avoided time behind bars, Marvel Studios and Walt Disney have axed the actor from their corporations in light of the convictions.

His upcoming role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, scheduled for May 1, 2026, has been scrapped.

The Emmy-nominated actor’s management company and several companies and PR firms have also dropped him.
