Newly discovered files from the Insomniac hack have reportedly revealed details about a possible DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The recent cyberattack has leaked many of Insomniac’s plans over the coming years, ranging from the unannounced cast of its Wolverine game to its upcoming slate of Marvel games. Now, weeks since news of the hack went public, new details about the studio’s Spider-Man series appear to come to light.

Back in December 2023, Insomniac Games was hit with a ransomware attack from the Rhysida group. Initially, the hackers released a few files online as proof while demanding over $2 million ransom from Insomniac. Following the refusal, the group dumped 1.67 terabytes of data that not only included previously unseen content from the Spider-Man series and the Wolverine game but also sensitive personal information of the studio’s staff. While Insomniac hasn’t commented on the specifics, the leaked details have already painted an intriguing picture of what fans can expect beyond Spider-Man 2.

DMCA notices are reportedly being sent to users who downloaded the leaked, playable build of Marvel’s Wolverine following the Insomniac cyberattack.

Initially spotted by Twitter user @zvis_ceral, Beetle has reportedly been part of Insomniac’s DLC plans for Spider-Man 2. Files suggest that Janice Lincoln, Tombstone’s daughter, may feature as Lady Beetle in the game. This would include new enemies, missions, as well as a boss fight. However, it’s unclear if the supposed Lady Beetle DLC is still scheduled for release as the files could be outdated and Insomniac may have changed plans following the hack.

The leaked files also unveiled the studio’s planned suite of unannounced titles in the coming years, including Spider-Man 3, a solo Venom game, and a Ratchet & Clank entry. It was also revealed that Insomniac is set to release an X-Men game in 2030, the first of several titles in the franchise. This was part of a deal Sony has reportedly signed with Marvel where X-Men games will be exclusive to Sony until 2035.

So far, Sony has stated that the company was looking into the hack, though the PlayStation maker emphasized that it found no evidence its other Sony Interactive Entertainment divisions were affected. Shortly after the incident, several studios and renowned personalities from the gaming industry responded, expressing support for the studio. Later, Insomniac Games issued a statement on the hack, commenting on the toll it had taken on the developers concerning Marvel’s Wolverine plans. In any case, time will tell how the studio navigates the coming years and how far it will readjust plans following the data breach.
