Spider-Man has been through a huge amount of tragedy in his life, and one of the most iconic and tragic moments of all time was when Spider-Man accidentally caused the death of his love, Gwen Stacy. Now, trapped in a dark past, Spider-Man nearl justy recreated the death of Gwen Stacy with one iconic villain.
Spider-Man: Reign 2 #2 – by writer and artist Kaare Andrews and colorist Brian Reber – featured the surprisingly dark death of the Vulture; after being ambushed by his second-ever enemy, Spider-Man causes Vulture to fall to his death. Most shocking about this moment, however, is the fact that Spider-Man could’ve saved him, but chose not to.
The manner in which Vulture was killed was eerily similar to how Gwen Stacy died; the fact Peter doesn’t seem to acknowledge or care about this similarity at all is a pretty shocking testament to his current state of mind.

Spider-Man Reign’s
version of Peter Parker is a lot different from the mainstream version. This Peter lost Mary Jane to cancer, quit being a hero, and watched the world fall apart around him, helpless to stop it.
The death of Gwen Stacy first shocked the world in Amazing Spider-Man #121. In this iconic storyline, the Green Goblin captures Gwen Stacy and brings her to the George Washington Bridge. It’s here that Spider-Man and Green Goblin engage in a brutal fight, and during this fight, Gwen Stacy is thrown from the bridge. While Spider-Man reacts fast and manages to catch Gwen with his webbing, the sudden change in velocity ends up snapping her neck, killing her instantly. It’s one of the most brutal moments in Spider-Man’s history, and it’s haunted him to this day.
Spider-Man Reign’s version of Peter Parker is a lot different from the mainstream version. It was only when Venom was about to end the world for good that Peter came back as Spider-Man, andthis older version quickly proved much darker than most incarnations, having killed several of his enemies in the first Reign series. Despite his reputation as an outstanding moral hero, Peter Parker has actually done a lot of dark things in the long history of the Spider-Man franchise, like leaving Norman Osborn to be killed by the Sin Eater. However, Peter killing Vulture similarly to how Gwen Stacy died is one of the darkest and most brutal moments in Spider-Man history. It’s the perfect example of how far gone the Reign version of Spider-Man is; he biggest tragic moment of his life is something he doesn’t even think about inflicting on someone else.
