Warning: Contains potential spoilers for What If…? Venom #3!

An instantly crowd-pleasing character who debuted in Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has officially crossed over to the world of Marvel Comics. Hilariously portrayed by Patty Guggenheim in the Disney+ series, Madisynn was legally represented by She-Hulk and made fast friends with Sorcerer Supreme Wong. Her unapologetically fun and unserious energy was a breath of fresh air for the MCU, and now it continues in the pages of Marvel’s comic multiverse.

A preview for What If…? Venom #3 by Jeremy Holt, Manuel Garcia, and Cece De La Cruz sees Doctor Strange investigating the Venom symbiote before it bonds with him during the issue. Strange goes to Wong for assistance with the alien, but is brushed off due to a prior commitment Wong has with Madisynn.

Madisynn has a sort of off-camera appearance in the preview, out of view as Wong opens a portal to an apartment where she has drinks waiting for their Bachelor finale viewing. Though it’s only brief, the moment officially solidifies Wong and Madisynn’s friendship beyond the MCU.

Marvel Comics Establishes The MCU’s Best Unexplored Relationship

Though Madisynn only appeared in one episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the character made a strong enough impression to warrant crossing over into the comics. Madisynn was an instant favorite when she made her debut in the series’ fourth episode, stealing multiple scenes and even establishing a catchphrase about her name in a short amount of screen time. As a victim of amateur magician Donny Blaze’s misuse of magic during a live show, Madisynn became a witness in Wong’s case against him and the two became fast friends with undeniable chemistry.

Madisynn won over fans and introduced her own catchphrase when spelling of her name: ”
It’s Madisynn with two N’s, one Y, but it’s not where you think!

The night that Wong and Madisynn have planned in What If…? Venom #3 mirrors the end credits scene of their She-Hulk episode, in which the duo discuss drinks and watch TV together. A welcome change of pace for Marvel’s multiverse that can get bogged down by constant strife and potentially world-ending disasters, Madisynn’s bubbly personality and demeanor is not only entertaining, but allows other characters to shine as well. Wong himself is slightly underutilized in the comics in comparison to his MCU counterpart, so opening up and exploring his inner world also makes a worthy addition to Marvel lore.

Madisynn’s possibilities in official Marvel continuity are not just limited to her relationship with Wong. As she gets caught in Donny Blaze’s reckless use of magic portals, she’s transported to another land where she makes a deal with some sort of demon to be brought back home. Though the details are vague, this could be seen as an allusion to Johnny Blaze’s deal with Mephisto that led to his transformation into Ghost Rider. With many variations of Ghost Rider already existing in the comics, a Madisynn variant of the character would be a fresh and bold twist on Marvel’s hell-raising superhero.

Though her official debut won’t take place in the main Marvel Universe but in a brief What If? appearance,Madisynn still has serious potential to make a splash in the comics. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s sitcom tone allowed an original one-episode character to make an even better impression than established Marvel heroes who were featured in the series, proving that the universe benefits from a broad variety of personalities at play. While she could have been dismissed as a tipsy party-girl archetype, Patty Guggenheim’s lively performance made Madisynn worthy of joining the world of Marvel Comics.
