New Marvel Studios fan art brings to life one of the most popular fan-casts for a live-action Ghost Rider in the MCU. Although no Ghost Rider-centric project has been confirmed, the beloved Marvel Comics antihero has been one of the most heavily rumored characters to be joining the franchise. Speculation of Ghost Rider’s MCU debut has gained traction as members of the supernatural team the Midnight Sons have been introduced in recent years, including Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and, in an upcoming reboot, Blade. Ghost Rider could surely join this team, though no casting has yet been revealed.

Gabriel Luna previously portrayed Robbie Reyes’ Ghost Rider in Marvel Television’s Agents of SHIELD, but acclaimed actor Ryan Gosling has been a popular fan-cast to portray the MCU’s Johnny Blaze. This fan-cast has been imagined in new fan art shared by Arman Official, showing a leather jacket-sporting Gosling as the MCU’s Ghost Rider.

The art depicts Ryan Gosling mid-transformation into Ghost Rider, with his flaming skull beginning to show beneath his face. Ghost Rider is one of the most highly-anticipated additions to the MCU, despite there being no current word on his potential integration into Marvel Studios’ ever-growing superhero franchise.

Marvel’s Blade Could Finally Be Ghost Rider’s Ticket To The MCU

Marvel Studios is releasing a new Blade movie in 2023, and that easily could set up an opportunity for Ghost Rider to officially join the MCU as well.

Ryan Gosling has long been rumored to be joining the MCU, and theories about his Marvel Studios debut have only increased as his popularity and acclaim have grown. In January 2024, Gosling was revealed to have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, making him an even more coveted name in Hollywood, and perhaps making his eventual casting in the MCU inevitable. Speaking to MTV News in 2022, even Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige noted that he’d love to find a place for Ryan Gosling in the MCU.

Gosling’s unbelievable … Ryan’s amazing. I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU. He’s dressed up as Ken on Venice Beach, and he gets more press than giant movies coming out that weekend, it’s amazing.

More recent speculation suggests that Marvel Studios and Ryan Gosling have been in talks for the actor to join the MCU (via Comicbookmovie.com), potentially as the cosmic superhero Nova. However, Gosling is still one of the most popular fan-casts for Johnny Blaze’s Ghost Rider, though it seems he’s in competition with other fan-favorites such as Norman Reedus, Keanu Reeves and Gabriel Luna, who could reprise his role from Agents of SHIELD. There may be other Marvel Comics characters better suited to Ryan Gosling than Ghost Rider, but it’s still exciting to imagine the Academy Award nominee finally joining the MCU.
