Yesterday, Insomniac Games and Bethesda Game Studios announced around the same time that the awaited Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Fallout 4 updates have been delayed to 2024.

We have some news about the next game update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We know players have been eagerly awaiting features such as New Game+ and Audio Descriptions, among many more. We have been working vigilantly on these features and require more testing to ensure the quality is up to our standards. We are now targeting Early 2024 for the next game update, and we’ll have a feature-complete list closer to its release. We’ve heard your feedback and will be adding some highly requested features, including the ability to change the time of day, swap tendril colors, and replay missions — just to name a few! We can’t wait to share more with you in the future.

And here’s the message from Bethesda Game Studios:

Thank you for your patience with us as we work on the Fallout 4 next-gen update. We know you’re excited, and so are we! But we need a bit more time and look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024.

The Fallout 4 next-generation update was announced in October 2022. We know it’ll include performance and quality modes (the latter featuring 4K resolution support) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, bug fixes, and some bonus Creation Club content.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched nearly two months ago to great reviews and even better sales data, with Sony revealing it had sold five million units in just eleven days since launch.

Fallout 4, on the other hand, launched in November 2015. It enjoyed similarly positive reviews and sales; we know that Bethesda had shipped twelve million physical units just to meet the day-one demand, and the game sold 1.2 million units on Steam on launch day.
