Marvel’s new Thor has officially been unmasked. Thankfully, this deep-cut villain still isn’t any match for the true God of Thunder.

After catching up with the villainous trio of Dario Agger, Skurge the Executioner, and the Enchantress Amora, the titular hero of Immortal Thor #10 is left reeling from seeing what they and Roxxon have done to his legacy. Even worse than their corporate-sponsored Thor attempting to usurp his place, however, is the fact that the very same impostor is more than happy to do as much damage as possible to maintain it. Thankfully, the true Thor is quick to recognize his would-be replacement as none other than the Enchantress’ very own Keep, and he has plenty of experience in dealing with his unliving former self.

First seen in 2012’s Mighty Thor #15 by writer Matt Fraction and artist Pepe Larraz, the Keep was created by the Enchantress from the remains of Donald Blake’s former remains. Though Blake lost his life along with Thor during the events of Ragnarok, the two were reborn at the end of that particular iteration of the divine Asgardian cycle of destruction. While this brought the God of Thunder back into the spotlight, it also meant that the pair’s previous forms were still capable of being weaponized against them.

In its original outing, the Keep joined the Enchantress in journeying through the depths of Hel, where they awoke Hela from a deep slumber induced by the terrifying beings known as Mares. Eventually, the villains made their way to the throne room of Asgard, where both the Enchantress and her Keep were defeated by the God of Thunder and expelled from the realm. It wasn’t until Thor was put on trial by his own father that the Keep would make another appearance in the Marvel Universe, albeit without making any more of an impression.

The Keep’s latest return has seen it take on the form of Roxxon’s very own Thor. This version of the God of Thunder is an open satire of tech-bro stereotypes, with Roxxon’s Thor sporting accouterments such as Mjolnir Premium and his boxier-than-expected Thor Truck. The Keep’s new position came as a result of Roxxon purchasing the Marvel Universe’s version of Marvel Comics, giving the company’s CEO Dario Agger the chance to rewrite Asgardian history alongside Skurge and the Enchantress.
