Marvel provides a fresh look for X-Force in a series of stunning variant covers.

X-Force is designed to be the mutant team doing the real dirty work of saving the world, and the new roster is gearing up to carry on that legacy with full force. The team toes the line between being heroes and going a little too far, and the new line-up is certain to continue pushing boundaries. Now, they’re gearing up to make their debut with a series of stunning variant covers.

X-Force #1 will hit shelves in late July, but Marvel has released a new set of variant covers that showcase the team in full glory and a surprise guest. X-Force veteran, Deadpool, makes a cameo to accompany the new X-Force group, which promises to add a little humor and probably a healthy serving of violence.

Clayton Crain depicts the new X-Force leader and famed mutant inventor, Forge, as Mahmud Asrar brings in Rachel Summers and Betsy Braddock. David Nakayama supplies a foil Deadpool cover, and Tony Daniel ties in the electric Surge, Sage, Tank, and their guest star, Wade Wilson.

Marvel reveals exciting new details about the X-Men’s new post-Krakoa era, dubbed “From The Ashes,” including creative teams and featured heroes.

The New X-Force is Taking On a Broken World

Mutantkind Needs Their Strongest Defenders

The war with Orchis is currently still going full force in Fall of X, but mutants won’t be wiped out of the Marvel Universe any time soon. Once the dust settles, someone will need to pick up the pieces and fight to give the survivors the chance to reach whatever is next. That sets the stage for Forge’s new X-Force to lead the way. Historically, the team handles things swept under the metaphorical rug, but Orchis and Nimrod have left so much destruction that a clean-up crew is more vital than ever, and the new art proves they’ll be doing it in style.

The covers reveal the new X-Force uniform, which appears predominantly black with red accents (ensuring Deadpool fits right in as a guest star). Clayton Crain’s take on Forge shows him standing in front of a Sentinel head in a poignant depiction of what mutants are leaving behind. Once again, they must rise from the ashes. Every member of the team has borne witness to disaster after disaster, even before Krakoa, from Rachel Summers’ experience with the Phoenix to Surge surviving Utopia and relentless attacks on the school. They are the perfect group to cut their way into mutantkind’s next chapter.

Forge is Assembling a Powerhouse Team

And X-Force Gets a Fresh Look

Forge’s team consists of X-Force alumni and new blood. Sage was instrumental in the team’s Krakoan operation and Betsy Braddock is no stranger to the group’s wet work, while Rachel Summers is a former Phoenix host and ultra powerful telepath and telekinetic. Surge has personal ties to Forge after he designed the gloves that regulate her electric powers. Tank, a former Ironheart and Miles Morales opponent, seems to be getting a second chance to show off his versatile molecular manipulation abilities. All told, Forge is assembling one of the most powerful X-Force teams yet, and now they look the part.

X-Force #1 is available July 31, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
