Summary

Keanu Reeves could potentially play Wolverine in an upcoming MCU movie, thanks to the use of the multiverse. Reeves has expressed interest in playing Wolverine in the past, but after Hugh Jackman’s tenure, he thought it was too late. While Reeves may not be able to play the MCU’s own version of Wolverine, he could still appear as a version of Logan in Deadpool 3’s multiverse story.

Keanu Reeves gets imagined as Wolverine in realistic Marvel art. Hugh Jackman has become a synonym with Wolverine, having first played the character in 2000’s X-Men and soon returning as Long in the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Deadpool 3. However, with the movie’s use of the multiverse, other actors could appear as Wolverine in the upcoming MCU movie, and there is the future MCU version of the character to be cast, which opens the door for Reeves.

On Reddit, user Paciphikocean shared two images of what Reeves could look like as Marvel’s Wolverine.

Reeves dons Wolverine’s yellow and black variant of his traditional comic book costume. The actor looks great in the role, especially with a comic book-accurate Wolverine helmet on. If Reeves were to appear as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 or another MCU movie, the design from the Marvel art would give him one of the best Wolverine movie looks.

Predicting The Box Office Performance Of Every 2024 Marvel & DC Movie

With fewer movies than in past years, Marvel and DC’s 2024 films will have to face superhero fatigue to come out on top at the box office.

The Actor Has Had Talks With Marvel Studios

Reeves has been rumored to play many Marvel roles, with fans claiming Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer, and more would suit the actor. However, Reeves has revealed that he always wanted to play Wolverine. While the actor said that the character was the one Marvel hero he had his sights on, Reeves went on to comment that after Jackman’s tenure in the role, he does not think he could play Wolverine, saying, “It is too late. It was filled really well. I’m all good with it now.”

While Wolverine might have been the Marvel character he always wanted to play, the role is not his only chance of joining the MCU. Reeves has also talked about playing a character that he is often fancast as: Ghost Rider. According to the actor, his younger self would have loved to portray the Marvel character, saying, “10-year-old me would want to — I think he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider.”

Given how Reeves has met with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to discuss an MCU role for himself, it is likely only a matter of time before the John Wick actor suits up as a Marvel hero. While Jackman will return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 and Reeves is likely too old to play the MCU’s own version of Wolverine whenever he debuts, the actor could still get his dream Marvel role. Deadpool 3‘s multiverse story is rumored to feature both Deadpool and Wolverine variants, and Reeves could appear as a version of Logan, even interacting with Jackman’s Wolverine.
