Deadpool 3 Director Is Still Refusing To Debunk Those Taylor Swift Casting Rumors

Deadpool 3 could feature singer Taylor Swift in a cameo role, and the film’s director has still to debunk it. Deadpool 3‘s cast already includes stars like Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but if the film’s multiverse rumors are true, then a lot of names should be added to the list. One of those names is Swift’s, who is rumored to play the X-Men character Dazzler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy was asked about the Taylor Swift casting rumor.

Levy did not deny her appearance; however, the director kept his stance of not confirming Deadpool 3‘s casting rumors either. Instead, the MCU director decided to jokingly play it off to keep Deadpool 3‘s story a secret, though he did say that he thinks Swift would make a great Dazzler. Check out the full quote below:

Horowitz: I’m not going to exploit what is a personal friendship with the lovely Taylor Swift, but has the word “Dazzler” ever escaped anyone’s lips when you’ve been in a room with Taylor?

Levy: Um, it sure escapes the lips of social media every day, and that’s all I’m gonna say.

Horowitz: Would she be a good Dazzler? Just whether it’s you or someone else directing?

Levy: Sounds like a great idea… I feel like, ‘oh wow, I went to a football game a couple weeks ago, and I had a really good time with friends, and I am thrilled to be talking about other things.’”

Marvel Studios has dealt with constant cameo rumors for the past few years. Those rumors have led to both exciting moments, such as the reveal that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were truly in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as some disappointing moments, like Tom Cruise not playing an Iron Man variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, Deadpool 3 has a long list of rumored characters with no confirmation.

Based on Marvel’s recent past, it is for the better that Levy is not directly confirming nor denying Swift’s role in the movie, along with the other rumored Deadpool 3 cameos. If the director were to confirm or deny Swift’s involvement in the movie, Levy would be falling into one of superhero movies’ recent shortcomings. A lot of Marvel and DC movies have revealed their surprise cameos before they were released, taking away from their reveals in the films, with that even hurting the performance of DC’s The Flash.

Another factor that explains why it is better for Levy to keep Swift’s possible Deadpool 3 role uncertain is that by not confirming or denying the rumor, a lot of Swift’s fans will keep their eyes peeled for the movie. Deadpool 3 should already be quite the performer for Marvel thanks to Jackman’s return as Wolverine and Reynolds joining the MCU, but with multiple superhero films underperforming recently, any boost in anticipation is warranted. By keeping Swift’s cameo a mystery, Deadpool 3 can make the most of the rumor.
