Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Xochitl Gomez and Kathryn Newton have teased a possible team-up project featuring their respective characters America Chavez and Cassie Lang.

Gomez recently uploaded a TikTok featuring the two actors addressing whether they will eventually star in an MCU project together. “Oh my goodness, I love this question,” Newton says, with Gomez adding, “Um, I think…,” before the video cuts off. The TikTok was captioned, “Hmmmm…idk? #kevinfeige ???,” further teasing a potential Marvel crossover. Gomez also hinted in the comments that Hailee Steinfeld (Hawkeye‘s Kate Bishop) might be involved in whatever they are teasing.

Is Young Avengers in the Works?

Many MCU fans believe Gomez’s TikTok is hinting towards a Young Avengers movie or Disney+ series. America Chavez, Cassie Lang and Kate Bishop have all been members of the Young Avengers at some point in the comics. While Marvel Studios has not yet announced a Young Avengers project, fans have noticed that the MCU has begun to introduce several members of the team, including Wiccan and Speed (WandaVision), Patriot (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Kid Loki (Loki). Marvel has also introduced other young heroes like Ms. Marvel who could be part of the MCU’s Young Avengers.

While Steinfeld doesn’t appear in the TikTok, the actor previously confirmed that she is “chomping at the bit” to return as the new Hawkeye. “I am so ready to get back at it. I am itching to be on set again with people that do what I do and love what we do,” she added. “I have such a sense of belonging when I’m on set and a sense of home and I just love it.” Marvel confirmed in August 2022 that Kate would appear in a Phase 5 project, but which project exactly remains unknown at this time.

What’s Next for the MCU?

The latest addition to the MCU has been the second season of Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. The fan-favorite Disney+ series follows its titular God of Mischief as he helps the TVA save not only the sacred timeline but also the entire multiverse from Kang the Conqueror and his many variants.

The Marvels, featuring Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), will be the third and final MCU film to hit theaters in 2023. The upcoming superhero blockbuster finds Ms. Marvel teaming up with Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris) after their powers become linked, leading them to swap places whenever someone uses their powers. Samuel L. Jackson also returns as Nick Fury in The Marvels, which is set after the events of the recently concluded Disney+ series, Secret Invasion.
