The MCU has been in our lives for around 15 years now, and that means some films definitely warrant our full attention. But the following embarrassing scenes from Marvel movies show that there are moments when we just want to make a face and decide not to say anything because the second-hand embarrassment is too strong. Sometimes, it is for the characters and other times it is just convenient writing that makes the whole thing tedious to watch.

Fortunately, there aren’t many scenes in this saga that make us feel embarrassed. The ones that do have been almost shut away from sight because it kind of pricks to imagine them all over again. Obviously, not all of them are serious pricks. Most of them are lighthearted scenes that caused an uproar in the theatre. So without any further ado, check out these scenes that have the power to make most people go ‘oof’ and look away.

Peggy’s Death – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

A still from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

She said, “I can do this all day,” and then immediately died. We had Captain America fighting Thanos with all his strength. Also, having her die by her own Shield was so uncalled for. It made the character seem incredibly incompetent. Talk about fridging. This character was treated so harshly. It is no surprise that this scene and the Illuminati, in general, were embarrassing as hell. We were somehow supposed to care about all of the characters and then immediately let go of them.

Starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy, main cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen and others, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Eat My Hammer – Thor: Love and Thunder

A still from Thor: Love and Thunder

Not to take away from the amazing of The Mighty Thor, but Jane Foster needed to work harder on her catchphrase because, so far, it is not working out too well. While the scene itself was supposed to be ironic, there were a few people who didn’t enjoy this at all. To be fair, Foster is an astrophysicist. She is smart enough to come up with a better catchphrase. The scene at the end where Thor screams seems too premature and causes us to believe that she may need some practice before she takes over for Odinson (I am sure she is coming back from Valhalla soon, Heimdall in tow).

Starring Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and others, Thor: Love and Thunder is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

I’ll Come Back For You – Iron Man 1

A still from Iron Man 1

While the scene at the time seemed exciting, it has aged incredibly poorly, and now, when we see Rhodey look at the suit and say this dialogue, all we remember is how he was immediately replaced. The confidence in the scene, the music in the background and the standing suit out of his grasp just make this whole visual even more painful to continue watching. Considering how War Machine stole the suit and ran with it to the US government, all of this seems small now.

Starring Terrence Howard as Rhodey, main cast members Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow, and others, Iron Man 1 is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Flawed Time Travel – Avengers Endgame

A still from Avengers Endgame

For people who made time travel make a lot of sense at the beginning of the movie, they sure didn’t take their own advice. They were so hell-bent on giving Steve Rogers a resolute ending that they managed to go against the science and do something incredibly uncharacteristic. Captain America cannot be in the main timeline with all the Avengers because if he wanted to chill with Peggy, then he would be in a different timeline. It is a bigger character concern that he went back to be with Peggy when all three Captain America movies were about Bucky Barnes.

Starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and many others, Avengers Endgame is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Peter Yells At Iron Man – Spider-Man: Homecoming

A still from Spider-Man: Homecoming

We all remember that moment probably because of that meme (oh my god, it’s Robert Downey Jr). But let’s go back to the original scene where Peter Parker was at the top of a building, and Iron Man came there. Spidey thinks that no one is in the suit because the billionaire has done that before. However, the part where he steps out of the suit is so jarring and shocking that the second-hand embarrassment for Peter is too real for us also. We just sit and stare at the screen as he gets ripped a new one. Amazing parenting moment, though.

Starring Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr, Zendaya, and others, Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Yelena Ruins the Pose – Black Widow

A still from Black Widow

If there is one character that makes the internet go mad, it is Yelena Belova. Her personality is so fiery there is no way anyone would dislike her. However, when she makes fun of her sister for doing the iconic pose and all of us are forced to reckon with the practicality of it, we feel like hiding behind some curtain. Audiences had just spent the last ten years mimicking that pose in order to pay homage to the character. Immediately, our poser behaviour was exposed. Kudos to Yelena; the whole pose now makes everyone look like a fool.

Starring Florence Pugh, Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Weisz and others, Black Widow is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
