For those who can’t get enough of Marvel characters, there are plenty of games available that could cater to their superhero or villain needs. Thanks to their wide spectrum of powers and abilities, Marvel characters can be placed in almost any video game genre and have them showcase their awe-inspiring feats of strength and intellect.

But which Marvel character has the most video game appearances? From iron-clad super geniuses, Norse gods, and super-soldiers to calculating, nefarious, and crude villains, these Marvel characters have left off the pages and panels of their comic books and onto a good number of video game titles:

10 Ghost Rider

One of the more unique Marvel characters, Ghost Rider has seen his fair share of video games appearances. A former motorcycle stuntman, Johnny Blaze became the Spirit of Vengeance after signing a shoddy deal with Mephisto: Johnny was bestowed with the powers of hellfire and is on a never-ending quest to seek out sinners and end them with his Penance Stare.

Ghost Rider has appeared in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games as well as in the Marvel vs Capcom titles and most recently, Marvel’s Midnight Suns. He utilizes his hellfire powers on top of his biker chain and motorcycle to burn, apprehend, and run over enemies.

9 Iron Man

The billionaire-playboy-philanthropist is one of the more popular Marvel characters. Tony Stark uses his genius intellect to construct an assortment of Iron Man suits to help him with his daily heroic deeds.

Iron Man has starred in his own video games that include a VR title, as well as being a part of Marvel’s Avengers, Marvel Ultimate Alliance series, and some fighting games like Marvel Super Heroes and the Marvel vs Capcom games. He has even been a part of numerous mobile titles like Marvel Super War, Marvel Strike Force, and Marvel Snap.

8 Venom

Venom is arguably one of Spider-Man’s greatest villains. The Lethal Protector is often seen in games where the Web-Head is featured either as an ally or a nemesis. Such titles include Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety, Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage, Ultimate Spider-Man, Activision’s Spider-Man, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

Venom’s symbiote powers also made him a good candidate for the Marvel vs Capcom fighting games as well as Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. He is also featured to be a main villain in Insomniac’s Spider-Man sequel.

7 Magneto

One of the X-Men’s greatest villains, the Master of Magnetism is featured in a variety of video games, mostly as one of the baddies that players need to defeat like in the 1992 X-Men arcade game and even a playable character in the X-Men Legends games.

Magneto is also prevalent in fighting games such as X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, and the Marvel vs Capcom titles. His mutant ability is also showcased in full effect in Marvel Snap, where he can pull enemy cards to the location where he’s placed to mess up the opposing player’s strategy.

6 Hulk

The big muscle of the Avengers, the Hulk is a Marvel character that screams to be put in video games. His seemingly endless strength warrants him to wreak havoc to anyone or anything standing in his way.

His standout game, The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, is widely regarded as one of the better superhero titles that gives players the ability to unleash all kinds of devastation using the Green Giant. Apart from that, the Hulk has also appeared in numerous fighting games like the Marvel vs. Capcom titles, as well as tons of beat-em ups like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and most recently Marvel’s Avengers, Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Strike Force, and Marvel Snap.

5 Thor

The God of Thunder is another widely popular Marvel character who has been in a variety of games. Apart from his movie tie-in games, Thor is a playable character in Marvel’s Avengers, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and in mobile titles like Marvel Strike Force, Marvel Contest of Champions, and Marvel Snap.

In fighting games, Thor is also a perennial fighter in the Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Infinite titles. Players get to experience Thor’s Asgardian might with every swing and strike of his mighty hammer, Mjolnir, and his myriad of thunder and lightning-based attacks.

4 Captain America

Captain America is the leader of the Avengers, and as such, lends him to have appearances in a majority of Marvel games. He is a playable character in the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Captain America and the Avengers, LEGO Marvel Superheroes, and his standalone movie tie-in games on top of the recent Marvel’s Avengers title.

He is more known for his appearances in fighting games as well, mainly in Marvel Super Heroes and the Marvel vs Capcom titles. In these games, players are treated to how a Super Soldier fights: Captain America uses a variety of swift strikes and mixes it up with some offensive maneuvers with his trusty shield.

3 Deadpool

The Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool is a popular Marvel character who has a knack of breaking the fourth wall in comics as well as in the games he appears in. He has his own video game where his antics are on full display for players to experience as well as some cameos in Spider-Man’s games.

Deadpool is also a playable character in the Marvel vs Capcom 3 games and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, often sporting an array of guns, blades, and his wicked sense of humor during bouts. While the X-Men have a ton of games under their belt, Wolverine hands down is the most popular mutant who has graced more video games than any of his teammates. Wolverine is always one of the X-Men to be part of any X-Men-related game, from the countless beat em up titles in SNES and Sega consoles, all the way to the more recent Marvel’s Midnight Suns and his upcoming solo game from Insomniac.

He is also well-known for his appearances in multiple fighting games like the Marvel vs Capcom titles, the X-Men Mutant Academy games, where he can rip and tear his way against opponents. His movie tie-ins are also worth mentioning, with X-Men Origins: Wolverine considered to be one of the better standalone superhero games.

1 Spider-Man

Spider-Man has the distinction of having the most games and appearances in games for a Marvel character to date. Spanning multiple console generations and video game genres, players have experienced playing as the Web-head in one game or another.

From fighting games like the Marvel vs Capcom titles, comic-book-to-video-game adaptations and beat em ups like the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, mobile games, and even his highly-praised solo titles like Activision’s Spider-Man games, Spider-Man:Web of Shadows, Spider-Man:Shattered Dimensions, and the more recent outing and upcoming sequel from Insomniac Games, Spider-Man blows other Marvel characters out of the water in terms of titles under his belt.
