Legion is one of the most powerful Mutants to ever face the X-Men. His power allows him to manipulate time and space at will, though he is limited by his dissociative identity disorder. The Ultimate Universe has put a new spin on Legion, with Ultimate Wolverine presenting him as a friendly artificial intelligence.
Written by Chris Condon, with art by Alex Lins, Ultimate Wolverine #6 introduced the new version of Legion. The action of the issue took place in Logan‘s head, as he was led to remember who he was before he became the Winter Soldier. This restoration of his memory was overseen by Legion, who confirmed himself to be part of the Opposition that serves as the Ultimate Universe’s X-Men.

The issue ended with Logan waking up, surrounded by his fellow rebels. However, Legion was not among them. Indeed, Legion was revealed to be within a computer supervised by this world’s Dr. Henry “Beast” McCoy.
On Earth-616, Legion was David Haller; the son of Professor X and a woman named Gabrielle Haller. David’s powers Mutant power manifested during a terrorist attack, when his psychic gifts absorbed the terrorists’ minds.
This confusion caused David to develop dissociative identity disorder, which further limited his powers. He could give himself virtually any power, but those powers each manifested through a unique personality. He went on to face the X-Men many times.

The Ultimate Universe Legion appears to have had a similarly troubled life. Indeed, his physical body was destroyed, with his mind somehow living on as an electronic code within the mainframes of the Eurasia Republic. However, he was able to overcome his mental disorder with the assistance of Beast, as detailed through several journal entries at the end of the comic. More, Legion was able to use his powers to remove the “bad code” from those, like Ultimate Wolverine, who were brainwashed by the Eurasia Republic.
Ultimate Wolverine #6 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
