A new casting rumor points to Marvel Studios eyeing a young Avatar: The Way of Water star for a key role in the X-Men reboot. The latest update places Trinity Jo-Li Bliss in the running to play Jubilee, though Marvel has not confirmed the casting. Marvel plans to reveal more announcements as development progresses.
Insider Jeff Sneider shared the rumor on The Hot Mic podcast that Marvel Studios is considering Avatar: The Way of Water actress Trinity Jo-Li Bliss for the role of Jubilation “Jubilee” Lee in its upcoming X-Men reboot.
Sneider said Bliss is “in the mix for Jubilee” and advised taking the news “with a grain of salt.” He added that director Jake Schreier, who is in early talks to helm the film, will “have input” on casting, but the final decision will be “whoever Kevin [Feige] wants.”
Notably, Bliss debuted as Tukitey or Tuk in Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), playing the youngest child of Jake Sully and Neytiri. She will return in the sequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash, scheduled for release in 2025.
Marvel Studios has not confirmed any casting or a release date for the X-Men reboot yet. The film, part of Marvel’s post-Multiverse Saga lineup, remains in early development. Michael Lesslie is writing the script, and as stated above, Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts, is in talks to direct. Sneider said Marvel plans to announce more casting decisions in the coming months.
Kevin Feige confirmed that the X-Men will play a significant role in the MCU after Avengers: Secret Wars. “The response to that series (X-Men ’97) just further excited us about how to bring the soap opera and the saga of the mutants to the MCU,” Feige told DiscussingFilm.
Marvel has not revealed a production or release timeline. Reports suggest the studio may introduce the new X-Men characters during Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars.
