Marvel Studios takes several measures to prevent actors from spoiling their movies but some actors can’t keep secrets. Celebrities like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo are famous for spoiling their movies accidentally while giving interviews. All they really need is some lessons from Jeremy Renner, who handled tricky questions like a pro.
Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye in the MCU
Now, Marvel doesn’t give their actors the entire script of the movies. The entire MCU cast agrees that they must hide things from Ruffalo and Holland because they ruined 2019’s Avengers: Infinity War for everyone.

Jeremy Renner knows how to handle rumors
Jeremy Renner
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2021, actor Jeremy Renner was quizzed about some rumors by host Jimmy Fallon. He asked Renner about Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) going after Hawkeye and the actor replied jokingly, “Who?” pretending to not know what Fallon was talking about. Renner further added (via Syfy)
“I watched [Black Widow] with my niece, and she’s like ‘Ooo, Uncle Jeremy, what did you do?’ I said ‘I didn’t do anything, darling.’ And that’s all I know about that.”
In a post-credits scene of 2021’s Black Widow, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine visits Yelena Belova at Romanoff’s grave and blames Clint Barton for Romanoff’s death, assigning him as Belova’s next target.
Mark Ruffalo needs to learn something from Jeremy Renner
Mark Ruffalo
Later in the interview, Fallon asks Renner if fans will get to see him playing Hawkeye again and Renner once again replies, “Who?” This was a great way to handle these tricky questions, but not everyone is like Renner. Actor Mark Ruffalo once gave a major spoiler for 2019’s Avengers: Infinity War during an interview with Good Morning America. While talking about the deaths of superheroes in the franchise, Ruffalo said,
“Wait till you see this next one, half… everybody dies.”
Don Cheadle, who was with Ruffalo during the interview, instantly exclaimed, “Dude!” Ruffalo’s small mistake spoiled the movie two years before its release.
Apart from Ruffalo, Tom Holland is also well-known for spoiling Marvel movies. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Holland accidentally revealed that Spider-Man goes to space in Avengers: Infinity War.
He even ruined Avengers: Endgame, as Holland accidentally said the word “Quantum Realm” in an interview, making it easy for some fans to derive that the superheroes will make an attempt to undo the snap.
