Since Marvel Comics and Tsuburaya Productions began collaborating in 2019, fans have awaited a crossover between Ultraman and Marvel’s superheroes. This summer, the wait is finally over. In August, Marvel will release “Ultraman X Avengers,” a four-issue limited series that brings the mightiest heroes from the Marvel Universe into Ultraman’s world for the first time.

The series reunites the hit creative team behind Ultraman’s previous Marvel comic series: writers Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom, and artist Francesco Manna. This epic collaboration will feature a wide array of appearances, including iconic Avengers and Spider-Man.

The storyline kicks off with Spider-Man mysteriously vanishing from New York, an intergalactic invader landing at Ultraman’s doorstep, and the Kaiju of Earth behaving more erratically than ever. These events set the stage for a monumental team-up between Ultraman and the Avengers. As Shin meets Sam, Spacium Ray meets Repulsor Ray, and “THWIP!” meets “SHUWATCH!”, fans will discover what cosmic threat necessitates the alliance of Marvel’s greatest champions and Japan’s legendary hero.

“We’re thrilled to continue our work on Ultraman, especially for such a significant event,” Groom and Higgins shared. “This marks the first meeting between Ultraman and the Avengers, despite their parallel origins in the 1960s and their status as top superheroes in their respective countries. Telling the story of this historic encounter—exploring their interactions, differences, and mutual lessons—is an incredible honor.”

Fans can catch a glimpse of the action with Dike Ruan’s cover art and witness this pop culture milestone when “Ultraman X Avengers” arrives in August. For more details, visit Marvel.com.
