The following contains major spoilers for Ultimate Spider-Man #17, on sale May 28 from Marvel Comics.
The most tragic death in Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe has just been undone, and it changes everything.
In a preview for Ultimate Spider-Man #17 from Marvel Comics, readers can catch a glimpse of Ben Parker finding an unexpected intruder in his New York City home. Of course, Ben isn’t all that worried about what Harry Osborn might do, but rather what the latter’s presence means for the rest of his family and loved ones. As it turns out, Ben is the only person who seems to have any clue that Harry didn’t actually lose his life that fateful day in the Savage Land, although he might wish he had, considering the extent of the trouble he knows is coming sooner than later.

The current Ultimate Universe, designated the reality of Earth-6160, is no stranger to updated and reimagined versions of classic Marvel heroes and villains, and the Green Goblin is easily counted among the most prominent of them all. Rather than taking up his disgraced father’s old mantle, the Harry Osborn of this world seems to be a genuine hero through and through, even if he hasn’t had the easiest time of things since embarking upon his career as the Green Goblin. Luckily, Harry has had allies such as Peter Parker and Otto Octavius to help him along in his heroic endeavors, and together they have begun making some major waves in NYC.
It was back in the pages of Ultimate Spider-Man #14 when Harry seemingly lost his life at the hands of none other than Kraven the Hunter. After being captured by members of the Sinister Six, Peter and Harry were stripped of their suits and dropped into the middle of the treacherous stretch of Subterranea known as the Savage Land. There, they faced off against monstrous beasts and murderous villains alike, all until Kraven got the upper hand and gunned a largely defenseless Harry down in cold blood.

Legendary Comic Creator Peter David Dies at 68
The industry mourns the loss of one of the greatest comic book creators of all time with the news that Peter David passed away at 68.
Since Harry’s apparent death, Peter has been wracked with guilt, though he isn’t the only one to know that something has gone horribly wrong. While Peter and Harry were trapped in the Savage Land, the former’s sentient supersuit took on a life of its own, creating a whole new kind of oozing symbiotic entity much like the original Marvel Universe’s Venom. Thankfully, this iteration of such a character is anything but malicious and has even joined forces with Peter’s son Richard to try and pick up where the latter’s father left off, all while doing their best to pick up the trail of the real Spider-Man.
