But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe.” The synopsis continues, “When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan, Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Brie Larson Teases Funny Sequel

During an interview before of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Larson revealed that Marvel movies don’t “have to be intense and heavy,” teasing that The Marvels has “a lot of humor.” She added, “I think this movie’s very funny, and we laughed a lot while making it.” Zawe Ashton, who is engaged to MCU actor Tom Hiddleston (Loki), portrays The Marvels‘ main villain, Dar-Benn, a Kree warrior revolutionary wielding an Accuser’s hammer who is trying to restore her homeland after a civil war.

The Marvels Could Be Delayed to 2024

The Marvels will be the last MCU film released in 2023, so long as Disney does not decide to push the film back to 2024. With no end in sight for the WAG and SAG-AFTRA strikes, studios have begun to delay some of their upcoming film slate. Sony recently pushed Kraven the Hunter from October 2023 to August 2024 while removing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse from its release calendar. Ghostbusters and The Karate Kid sequels were also delayed.

While Disney has not announced any delays yet, insiders have stated that the company has considered delaying The Marvels until after the strike so that performers and creative teams can promote their films, which they are unable to do at this time per the union’s requests. Currently, The Marvels is still scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 10, as part of Phase 5 of the MCU.
