How did that actress who gave us one of the very few sex scenes in the MCU actually end up in Iron Man?

Leslie Bibb, known for her role as Vanity Fair journalist Christine Everhart in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s very first movie, Iron Man (2008), had a unique journey. She was part of the MCU from the very beginning, but at the time, she had no idea what she was getting into.

If you watched Iron Man (2008), you simply can’t forget the scene when Christine Everhart interviews Tony Stark, and the following sex scene which looks hilarious and feels out-of-place but is still somehow good.

In an interview with Collider, Bibb shared that she was working on a movie called Midnight Meat Train with Bradley Cooper when her manager sent her an audition for a Marvel movie. At that point, she had no clue what Marvel was.

Despite being exhausted from working all night, her manager convinced her to go for the audition. She wasn’t prepared, but she went anyway, not knowing that this audition would land her a role in one of the biggest film franchises in history.

She got the part and had to read the script in someone’s trailer on the set. She was so sure she wouldn’t see the script again that she was sneakily taking notes to remember what was happening in the story. This was the first time she had to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Bibb was excited to work with Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. However, due to an unexpected knee surgery that Paltrow had to undergo, Bibb’s role shifted a bit. She ended up getting an extra day of scenes, which was a pleasant surprise.

Bibb also reprised her role by landing her voice for the Disney Plus’ animated series, What If…?. The second season of What If…? is expected in 2024.

Despite her limited screen time, Bibb’s character, Christine Everhart, is one of the minor but important elements that connect the projects together. And let’s be honest, cohesion is definitely what the MCU currently lacks.
