The Marvel Universe is packed with hyper-powerful heroes and villains, and some of the most powerful characters in the entire history of the publisher have joined the Avengers: Marvel’s premiere superhero team. There have been countless members of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes over the years, and although many of them possess incredible abilities and powers, there are those who are far less remarkable.
Though every member of the Avengers has their place in the pantheon of great Marvel heroes, it can be somewhat confusing for readers to see characters like Thor, Blue Marvel, or Sentry on the same team as some of the weaker members. Even though some of the weaker Avengers are beloved by fans, there’s no denying that they are somewhat out of place on the powerhouse team.

Captain America Is An Incredible Leader Despite His Physical Shortcomings
The Super-Soldier Has Held His Own Against All Manner of Threats
Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, is one of the most important and beloved characters in the entire Marvel Universe. He has led countless teams, battled countless foes, and laid down his life and safety for the betterment of the world over and over again. Despite this, he’s only human, and he is physically one of the weakest Avengers.

Marvel: This Alternate Universe Avengers Story Is Secretly 1 of the Best Captain America Stories of All Time
The alternate universe Avengers Twilight story is one of the very best Marvel books that has been published in the last ten years.
When compared to characters like Iron Man, Thor, Hercules, and Storm, Captain America doesn’t hold a candle to the power levels at play on the Avengers team. He might be a fearsome fighter, a dedicated leader, and an excellent strategist, but there’s only so much the star-spangled hero can do against some of the team’s most dangerous threats.

Moon Knight Is An Expert Fighter Who Is Constantly Outmatched
Moon Knight Is a Brutal Crimefighter Who’s Often in Over His Head
Marc Spector, aka Moon Knight, is an incredible character, and his popularity has only increased in recent years with the release of his very own live-action TV series on Disney+. Though Moon Knight isn’t always known as a member of the Avengers, he has joined the team a number of times.

Moon Knight Is More Powerful Than Marvel Fans Realized
Marvel’s original Moon Knight takes the life of his successor — but what comes next puts him at odds with his own patron god.
Some might argue that Moon Knight’s power levels are worthy of ranking among the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, but the inconsistency of his abilities makes him more of a liability than an asset at times. Though Moon Knight occasionally possesses great power through his connection to Konshu, the moon god, he is often only portrayed as a slightly more powerful human, thus making him a weak member of the Avengers.

Hawkeye Is a Wonderful Marksman, But His Abilities Are Finite
Hawkeye Is Only Effective When His Quiver Is Stocked
Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, is one of the most consistent members of the Avengers. Like Captain America, he has proven himself time and time again as an integral member of the team, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s worthy of being considered powerful. His connection to his teammates and the Avengers as a whole is important, but when it comes to sheer power, Hawkeye is lacking.

10 Signs Doomsday Is Secretly an Avengers vs. X-Men Movie
The latest cast announcements for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday have got fans speculating that the film might secretly be adapting a classic comic.
With only his trusty bow and arrow and his quiver full of trick arrows to help him, Hawkeye is constantly outmatched by opponents. Though his underdog status certainly helps make him more interesting as a character, it’s hard to deny that he is a weak link in terms of power levels on the team, especially when he can’t rely on his arrows.

Black Widow’s Abilities Are Excellent In Certain Scenarios
The Hyper-Skilled Super Spy Is Vital To The Avengers…Sometimes
Natasha Romanova, aka Black Widow, is one of the more complicated members of the Avengers. Masked in mystery and intrigue, Black Widow is most notable for her spy and espionage abilities, which aren’t always the most important when the Avengers are facing off against cosmic-level threats like Kang the Conqueror or Thanos.

The Avengers has changed its roster a lot over the years, enabling some of the smartest minds in the Marvel Universe to come and go as needed.
While she is yet another important member on a personal level for readers and characters within the universe alike, there’s no denying that Black Widow is often in way over her head alongside her fellow Avengers. Black Widow is a wonderful asset on missions for teams like the Secret Avengers, but when it comes to cosmic threats and major powerhouses, there’s not much Natasha can do.

Falcon Doesn’t Do Much That Other Team Members Don’t Already Do
Sam Wilson Is a More Notable Avenger When He’s Captain America
Sam Wilson was known as the Falcon for many years, the trusty sidekick and confidant of Steve Rogers himself. In recent years, however, Sam has gotten an upgrade and a promotion to the role of Captain America alongside his former mentor. Though he has proven himself to be a wonderful Captain America, Sam’s time as Falcon on the Avengers was less spectacular.

Why Sam Wilson Will Never Be Ready to Stop Being Captain America
Sam Wilson just revealed the harshest truth behind him being Captain America, and it proves exactly why he always will be.
Armed with wings that allow him to fly at great speeds, as well as the ability to communicate with and utilize the abilities of an assortment of birds, Falcon remained a low-tier member of the Avengers for decades. Other members could fly faster, gain intelligence faster and easier, and pack more punch than anything Falcon was capable of. Sam might be a great Captain America, but his time as the Falcon was not exactly noteworthy.

The Irredeemable Ant-Man Was the Most Inexperienced Ant-Man By Far
Eric O’Grady Proved Himself a Hero Despite His Inexperience and Lack of Skill
Notable as the third major character to take on the mantle of Ant-Man, Eric O’Grady was a low-level S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who stole Hank Pym’s latest Ant-Man suit in order to use it for personal gain, eventually adopting the name Black Ant. After realizing that he has a responsibility to do good, O’Grady joined the Secret Avengers. Unfortunately, having access to Ant-Man gear didn’t make him as powerful as other Avengers members.

Marvel’s Ant-Man is uncannily similar to DC’s hero The Atom, but the two shrinking heroes have a lot of differences, too.
On the team, O’Grady was the least experienced team member by far, a fact that eventually got him killed when he faced off against Father, a scientist with access to advanced technology. Though he has more powers than some of the other Avengers, Black Ant’s inexperience, brash attitude, and disregard for safety make him a liability to his team more often than not.

Mockingbird Is Less Adept Than Allies Like Black Widow and Hawkeye
The Enhanced Agent Has Never Reached the Heights of Other Human Avengers
Bobbi Morse, aka Mockingbird, has had one of the most complicated histories in the entire Marvel Universe. Suffering greatly during events like the iconic Secret Invasion storyline, Mockingbird has never been treated with the same level of adoration as similar characters like Black Widow or Hawkeye, and she doesn’t seem to be able to match them in skill either.

The Avengers have earned the title of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes many times over, largely thanks to the incredible power of heroes like Thor and Hulk.
Despite having enhanced strength, speed, agility, and stamina, Mockingbird has remained towards the bottom of the barrel when it comes to power levels on the Avengers. Anything she can do, other members can typically do better and faster. There are major fans of Mockingbird, of course, and her appearances in the live-action Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series made her even more beloved.

Demolition Man Was Inspired By Captain America
The Former Wrestler Turned Superhero Has Heart But Is Lacking in Ability
Dennis Dunphy, aka Demolition Man, aka D-Man, has become somewhat of a cult-favorite character in Marvel Comics history. With a costume combining aspects of Daredevil’s original design and Wolverine’s iconic outfit, D-Man has remained a consistent supporting character in an assortment of Marvel stories over the years.
With enhanced strength granted to him by the villainous Power Broker, Dunphy tried to become a hero like his idol, Captain America. Eventually teaming up with Cap himself, Demolition Man proved himself to be a worthy hero, and he joined the Avengers on a semi-regular basis. Though he’s nowhere near as powerful as some of his teammates, D-Man’s role on the team was earned through sheer grit, and it’s why many fans love him.

Night Thrasher Barely Stands Out Next to Other Avengers
The Leader of The New Warriors Has Been a Minor Avengers Member for Some Time
Dwayne Taylor, aka Night Thrasher, is a human vigilante who is adept at a number of forms of martial arts. Though he has also been known to have some minor level of telepathic and psychic resistance, Night Thrasher is only an ordinary human at heart, and while he’s a skilled inventor, he can’t compete with other inventors on The Avengers team.
Night Thrasher has certainly proven himself to be a worthy hero during his time with the New Warriors, but it seems a bit ridiculous to put him on a team next to heroes like the Hulk, Captain Marvel, or Doctor Strange. He’s a solid enough fighter and defender of justice, but there’s very little chance that he could stand up against any other Avenger in a one-on-one battle.
The Former Villain Isn’t One of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
Jacques DuQuesne, aka the Swordsman, is most notable for his time working against the Avengers. Originally introduced as a villain of the team, the Swordsman technically joined the Avengers for a time, and his tenure on the team led him to have a minor change of heart about his villainous ways. Though he hasn’t spent much time as an Avenger, the time he has spent proved that Swordsman is no match for any other teammate.
