shows what the MCU’s Captain America would look like if he was possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance.
Captain America likely won’t become Ghost Rider in the MCU due to Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson’s upright morals.
Other MCU characters like The Punisher and Red Hulk could be potential hosts for the Spirit of Vengeance in the MCU.

Marvel fan art shows what Captain America would look like as Ghost Rider in the MCU. Chris Evans starred as Steve Rogers throughout Captain America’s long MCU journey, from his origins as a skinny kid from Brooklyn to his legendary status as a universe-saving Avenger. Yet, many Captain America stories were left out of the MCU, simply because of how extensive the comic book character’s history is. But even in the source material, some epic events surprisingly haven’t happened yet, such as the Spirit of Vengeance’s possession of Captain America.

Diehard Marvel fan and famous digital artist BossLogic reveals what a Captain America / Ghost Rider fusion would look like in live-action. Whether this Captain America is Steve Rogers or Sam Wilson is left ambiguous, but BossLogic‘s artwork clearly draws inspiration from Robbie Reyes’ metallic skull. See the full piece below:

The Spirit Of Vengeance Will Likely Set Its Sights On Other Characters In The MCU

While it would be exciting to see the Spirit of Vengeance possess Captain America in the MCU, such a fusion is highly unlikely. First, Steve Rogers’ involvement is out of the question, as he’s either retired or already dead by Phase 5. But even if Sam Wilson comes across Mephisto, he would likely avoid making a deal with the demon by all means, and Mephisto wouldn’t be too interested in using Sam’s body as a vessel. The Ghost Riders tend to have an interest in individuals with questionable morals, especially those who are willing to do the dirty work themselves. Neither Steve Rogers nor Sam Wilson would be up for that kind of crime-fighting.

As of 2024, Ghost Rider’s MCU debut is still taking a long time. Whenever an eventual Marvel movie or show introduces a Ghost Rider, the anti-hero would likely cross paths with other mystical characters first. Characters like Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Blade, Elsa Bloodstone, and even Doctor Strange would likely meet Ghost Rider before Captain America. If Ghost Rider and Captain America finally meet, they would either work together as allies or butt heads due to their conflicting approaches to heroism, but they definitely wouldn’t consider fusing or exchanging abilities.

Now that the MCU is diving into other corners of the Marvel universe, it would be the perfect time for the franchise to introduce Ghost Rider.

Some characters who could be possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance in the MCU instead of Captain America could be John Bernthal’s Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher and Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross a.k.a. the Red Hulk. While these two villains are far from mystical at this point in the MCU, they both have become Ghost Riders in the comics. Otherwise, the MCU can introduce various Ghost Riders, including Johnny Blaze, Robbie Reyes, and Danny Ketch.
