The following contains major spoilers for Kid Juggernaut #1, on sale April 30 from Marvel Comics.

Marvel Comics’ Kid Juggernaut has finally gotten his origin story in print for the very first time.

Kid Juggernaut #1 opens to find the young Justin Jin’s lazy day at home interrupted when his mother needs help running their shop while she takes care of the legal proceedings regarding the estate of his recently deceased father. When a package comes with his name on it, Justin discovers that his father had some old belongings delivered from Korea. Far more interesting than the photos and books Justin finds within is a tassled gem, one that contains all the power necessary to transform the otherwise ordinary teenager into a whole new kind of Juggernaut.

First introduced in 2024’s digital-exclusive Marvel Voices Infinity Comic #100 by Anthony Oliveira and Minkyu Jing, the young Jin Joon-Sung (or Justin Jin) was born in Korea to his mother Hae-Ran Jin, a former waitress, and his father, Jung-Woo Jin. When the family moved to Canada, they found success by opening a small bakery, though Hae-Ran and Jung-Woo’s marriage was not so lucky. When the pair split, Jung-Woo returned to Korea, and when he passed, he left his son the key to the long-held family secret, which was largely responsible for his woes.

As it turned out, Jung-Woo was the son of Jin Moon-Ho, the Juggernaut who stood as Cyttorak’s human acolyte before Cain Marko. As seen in 2007’s New Excalibur #15 by Frank Tieri and Jim Calafiore, Jin served Cyttorak dutifully before being given an order he could not follow. When Cyttorak ordered Jin to align himself with the Japanese forces that were occupying Korea at the time, tensions between the two grew. When Cyttorak ordered Jin to decimate his own village, the Juggernaut simply refused. As such, Cyttorak sought out Cain Marko, who was drawn to the Temple of Cyttorak where he ultimately defeated Jin and claimed his former mantle by lethal force.

July is Going to be a Great Month for Spider-Man Fans

July 2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest months of the year for Spider-Man, not to mention the entire rest of the Spider-Verse

Since his debut, Kid Juggernaut has found himself fighting alongside two distinct teams of young heroes. The first of these included his fellow students at the latest iteration of Norman Osborn’s old Avengers Academy, which had been reopened by none other than Captain Marvel herself, Carol Danvers.

This “Reformed Class” consisted of Aaron Fischer, aka Captain America of the Railways, Shela Sexton, aka Escapade, Lunella Lafayette, aka Moon Girl (and Devil Dinosaur), Normie Osborn, aka the Red Goblin, and Brielle Brooks, better known as Bloodline. Kid Juggernaut also had a short-lived team-up with the New Champions, the majority of whom hail from Hydra’s former “superhero” team known as The Assembly.

Kid Juggernaut #1 will be available April 30 from Marvel Comics.
