It’s official: Marvel Studios is dis-assembling from San Diego Comic Con 2025, as they will not be holding its signature Hall H presentation this year. Variety is reporting that the studio is pulling back from its traditional Saturday night blockbuster showcase, opting to save its biggest reveals for 2026, when Avengers: Doomsday will be closer to release. The main reason? With production currently underway in London, Marvel isn’t keen on suspending the massive shoot — which probably involves half of Hollywood — just to fly everyone to San Diego for a few minutes of fanfare. It’s a rare but understandable move, especially with Avengers: Doomsday shifting its release from May 2026 to December 2026. Marvel is now said to be keeping their powder dry for Comic-Con 2026.

While there won’t be fireworks or drone shows over Petco Park or surprise cameos from an army of Avengers, Marvel Studios is still planning panels and activations tied to its comics, games, and other brand extensions. A Marvel booth will anchor the studio’s presence on the show floor, with a major push surrounding the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which opens that same Friday. There are expected to be smaller announcements or exclusive content related to animated projects, game updates, or behind-the-scenes peeks at future titles, but don’t expect to see Robert Downey Jr. appearing as Thanos or Hugh Jackman stepping through a portal.

Since Iron Man first brought the house down at SDCC in 2007, Hall H has become a second home for Marvel Studios. Over the years, it’s been the site of some of the most unforgettable Comic-Con moments: the Avengers cast assembling for the first time in 2010, Black Panther’s jaw-dropping debut in 2016, and in 2024, a surprise Thursday Hall H screening of Deadpool & Wolverine complete with a 10-minute drone and fireworks show.

But skipping the massive stage isn’t unprecedented for Marvel. The studio sat out the convention during the pandemic (2020 and 2021), and more recently in 2023 due to the dual writers’ and actors’ strikes. It also passed on Hall H in 2011, 2015, and 2018 — usually when production schedules left them with little to show. So basically, they’re gone as often as they’re there. No biggie.

Expect Marvel to come back to Hall H in full force in 2026, likely with Doomsday, Secret Wars, and X-Men announcements locked and loaded. Until then, stay tuned to Collider.
