Marvel has revealed that a surprising Disney character is worthy of Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. A new Avengers #30 variant cover shows the character wielding the weapon, confirming their worthiness.

The confirmation comes from a variant cover for Avengers #30 by Humberto Ramos. In the artwork, Stitch can be seen gripping Mjolnir between his teeth.

Mjolnir, the powerful Asgardian weapon, allows only the “worthy” to lift it. While Elsa, Mulan, or King Triton might seem like more obvious choices, Marvel selected Stitch, a creature originally engineered for destruction, as the unlikely candidate. He earns this honor through self-awareness and personal growth.

In the Avengers #30 variant, Stitch carries Mjolnir in his teeth, signaling that he meets Odin’s magical standard for worthiness. Marvel included this artwork in a series of five variant covers that show Stitch disrupting major heroes such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Captain America. In Captain America #3 Stitch variant by Ben Su, Cap grabs Stitch by the scruff while balancing melting ice cream on his shield.

Artist Phil Noto portrays Stitch in full alien form, facing off against the X-Men in X-Men #22, while Paco Medina shows him bouncing through the Fantastic Four’s headquarters in Fantastic Four #3. In Amazing Spider-Man #11, Luciano Vecchio draws Stitch clinging to a wall alongside Spider-Man in a chaotic standoff.

Stitch wielding Mjolnir underscores his character arc. Though Dr. Jumba Jookiba created him for destruction, Stitch develops empathy and loyalty through his relationship with Lilo. Marvel lore states that Mjolnir responds to inner strength over brute force, and Stitch’s growth from a destructive force to a compassionate companion reflects that standard.

These variant covers will be available in September 2025. The live-action Lilo & Stitch film is currently playing in theaters.
