Warning: This article may contain spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.Or maybe it won’t.

Avengers: Doomsday
has only been filming for two days, but for all the secrecy around the movie, and Avengers: Secret Wars
, it seems that someone forgot to brief Marvel Comics X-Men legend Chris Claremont about Kevin Feige’s hit list when it comes to keeping mum about what you know. During a panel at Huntsville Pop Culture Expo, Claremont appeared to spill several spoilers about returning MCU stars, variants, and more.

What we already know for certain is that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to take on the role of Doctor Doom, the original Fox X-Men will be returning to the big screen, including Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Rebecca Rominj, and Alan Cumming, and the film is going to feature several other big Marvel characters such as Loki, Thor, The Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi, and others to be announced.

While 2025 marks the end of one phase, it also ushers in the MCU’s Phase 6, which includes the release of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ next year.

In a live-streamed video of Claremont’s panel, he appears to add to this a lot of plausible details about other variants to be played by Robert Downey Jr., Chis Evans and many other previously unannounced characters. He also makes claims about the involvement of Wolverine in the death of another major character, and numerous other events that all have a ring of truth to them. The question is, are these actual details about the movie, or just someone playing the room? Check out the video below around the 9-minute mark and judge for yourself before Feige takes his shot.

In many ways, it is perhaps not surprising that Thunderbolts* is currently scoring highly with critics. The latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t come with the expectation of variants, other worlds, and big overarching stories. Many Marvel movies of the last few years have fallen short of fan expectations by not delivering the kind of brain-melting procession of wild and wacky alternate worlds and characters that are out there in every movie that touches on the multiverse.

Doomsday and Secret Wars could become the two movies where those who long for nothing more than as much fan service as any comic book geek can take finally get what they want and see many versions of the heroes and villains of the MCU duking it out in one of the biggest comic book movies ever. We already know that the Russos are capable of delivering spectacle, but can they make the multiverse finally pay its dues?

Obviously, no matter how many spoilers litter the internet, nothing will be truly confirmed until that opening logo plays and the first Avengers film in seven years begins telling its story. Has Claremont really given a few hints about what we are going to see in 2026 and 2027, or is there going to be a little tinge of disappointment when it doesn’t play out as he has suggested? Who knows, but these are not going to be the last questionable leaks we hear before the truth is revealed.
