Ghost Rider meets his ultimate match in a battle that pits the Spirit of Vengeance against Deadpool armed with a fire extinguisher. This clash of anti-heroes unfolds on the official art for Marvel’s upcoming Deadpool-inspired variant cover series. While the cover is undeniably hilarious, someone should inform Wade Wilson that there’s a far more effective way to take on Ghost Rider.
The Spirit of Vengeance is clad in his typical black-leather biker getup as he belly-crawls away from a fire extinguisher-wielding Deadpool.
On July 10, 2024, Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #5 by Benjamin Percy and Danny Kim will hit comic shelves, featuring Jonas Scharf’s Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe variant cover. This cover is just one of many paying homage to the iconic Deadpool comic of the same name.
Showcasing the industry’s top artists, the variant cover series will grace Marvel’s hottest titles throughout July. Fans can expect Deadpool’s trademark levels of violence depicted across the various series as the Merc with a Mouth slaughters his way through Marvel’s premier heroes.
Thanks to Deadpool, Fans Now Know What Ghost Rider’s Flaming Skull Looks Like Extinguished
Scharf’s variant cover encapsulates pure chaos within a single picture, making it all the more fantastic. Depicted is the Spirit of Vengeance, clad in his typical black-leather biker getup as he belly-crawls away from a fire extinguisher-wielding Deadpool. However, instead of exuding his usual levels of badassery, Ghost Rider barely manages to keep his Hellfire aflame. With Wade’s extinguisher on full blast, the Spirit of Vengeance’s bare skull is bared to the viewer, with only the tiniest remnants of Hellfire flickering within. This reveal confirms that Ghost Rider isn’t nearly as frightening when his head isn’t on fire.
Despite Ghost Rider being the disadvantaged party in this hilarity-filled fight, Deadpool isn’t necessarily unscathed. The Spirit of Vengeance managed to land at least one good hit, evident from the flames atop Deadpool’s mask. It seems like the Mercenary is currently unaware of this development, making it even more amusing. In addition to the incredibly entertaining scene unfolding, Scharf’s artistic style and coloring make this a standout cover that will likely remain one of the most memorable variants of this Deadpool-inspired cover series.
Deadpool Kills 6 Avengers Heroes In Disturbing MCU Art
Shocking MCU fan art imagines Deadpool sat amongst artifacts collected from the Avengers, teasing a major Marvel Comics story for the MCU.
Deadpool Would Have Better Luck Killing Ghost Rider With a Holy-Powered Water Hose Than a Fire Extinguisher
If Deadpool truly intended to kill Ghost Rider, then a fire extinguisher wouldn’t suffice, as the flames that engulf the Spirit of Vengeance’s skull are Hellfire and thus impervious to typical extinguishing techniques. In fact, Deadpool would have better luck making a trip to either heaven or hell, as weapons forged in these supernatural realms are among Ghost Rider’s primary weaknesses. However, if Wade is determined to “put out” the Spirit of Vengeance’s flame, he could always try a hose powered by holy water. Perhaps one day fans will witness a true battle between Deadpool and Ghost Rider unfold.
