After more than two decades of waiting, the worlds of Marvel and DC are finally colliding in Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1, arriving this September. The landmark one-shot brings together two of comics’ most iconic—and wildly different—characters in a main story written by Zeb Wells with art by superstar Greg Capullo.

But that’s not all, this crossover celebration will also include backup stories pairing other major Marvel and DC heroes. Kevin Smith and Adam Kubert will team Daredevil with Green Arrow, Captain America and Wonder Woman unite under the creative team of Chip Zdarsky and Terry Dodson, and Jeff the Land Shark joins forces with Krypto thanks to Kelly Thompson and Gurihiru. Each story will have its own themed variant cover, including new reveals today by Marco Checchetto and Gurihiru, plus a massive wraparound variant from Capullo.

“This project has been a blast,” said editor Mark Basso. “It’s all about those surprising connections between the two universes—and we’ve got even more surprises coming.”

Writers are just as excited. “Cap and Diana are both symbols of strength and peace—it’s been thrilling to explore what they’d mean to each other,” said Zdarsky. Meanwhile, Thompson called Jeff and Krypto’s team-up “an absolute honor” and a moment that proves “sometimes this job is very cool.”
