Summary
Warning: SPOILERS ahead for X-Men #27With a name like the Unstoppable Juggernaut, Cain Marko is not only one of the strongest X-Men characters around, but he one of Marvel Comics’ heaviest hitters. Only a handful of characters are capable of going toe-to-toe with Charles Xavier’s estranged stepbrother, and on more than one occasion he’s singlehandedly pushed powerhouse teams like the X-Men or X-Force to the limit. Unfortunately for Juggernaut, there’s one person even he can’t beat: Nimrod, the ultimate Sentinel.
X-Men #27 by Gerry Duggan, Phil Noto, and VC’s Clayton Cowles catches fans up with where Juggernaut has been after his disastrous defeat by Nimrod at this year’s Hellfire Gala. Magically healed from what should have been a fatal blow thanks to the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak, Juggernaut is being held in an Orchis prison camp. There he is kept in place by an adamantium coil chained through the wall to the prisoner in the neighboring cell. Kate Pryde aka Shadowkat frees him of the coil, allowing him to attempt escape the following day – only for Doctor Stasis to casually reveal over a dinner with Firestar that Nimrod defeated the Juggernaut just as easily the second time around.

The Juggernaut Is More Stoppable Than He Thought
Juggernaut is considered one of the physically strongest beings on Earth, so the fact that Nimrod so easily defeats him even once is incredibly impressive. But the fact that he’s apparently capable of stopping Cyttorak’s avatar with such relative ease to the point that it’s not even noteworthy enough to show in this very issue paints a grim picture as to how dangerous Nimrod truly is. After all, Juggernaut has been known to face off against the Hulk, and yet to someone like Nimrod, he’s just another target.
Nimrod Was Built To Last
While Cain Marko may frequently be most associated with the X-Men, his powers are strictly magic-based, which some may believe would give him an advantage over a creature of technology like Orchis’ big, pink attack dog. But as the pinnacle of Sentinel technology, Nimrod was designed to adapt against any and all superpowered opponents, not just mutants. And if he can stop the Juggernaut so easily, then Nimrod represents a major threat to the other non-X-Men heroes of the Marvel Universe as well.
Juggernaut is usually described as unstoppable, though obviously that’s not the case against Nimrod. The Orchis android may have been designed as an anti-mutant weapon, but he clearly doesn’t limit himself to the carriers of the X-gene. It seems the Unstoppable Juggernaut has finally collided with an immovable object in the form of Marvel Comics’ Nimrod.
