Marvel Studios has yet to reveal a single actor for its Fantastic Four movie, with many casting rumors flying around but no concrete news emerging as of yet. That will now take even more time, as the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes have stopped Hollywood and the MCU’s Fantastic Four casting with it. While the Fantastic Four cast remains open, the rumors surrounding the film point to the MCU going for a new actor to play Reed Richards, with Krasinski out.
While that is far from official, Krasinski’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness role allows Marvel to cast a new actor to appear as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. After being the fans’ favorite for the role for years, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige decided to bring in Krasinski as a multiverse variant of Reed for the Doctor Strange sequel. The MCU has established with Disney+’s Loki that not all multiverse variants have to look the same, opening the door for a new actor to play the MCU’s main Reed Richards.
That said, Krasinski showed with his limited time in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that he can deliver a compelling turn as the MCU’s smartest man. Given the actor was the most requested to play Reed in the MCU, having Krasinski just appear in a cameo role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to be killed quickly by the Scarlet Witch feels like a misuse of such a great casting. With the MCU’s Fantastic Four cast still open, Krasinski returning as the main Reed after his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo is still a possibility, though it is looking unlikely.
