As Marvel revamps the Hulk for a new era, the Green Goliath’s family are forged into a powerful team with more raw power (and potentially even more influence) than the Avengers. While Hulk was a founding member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, he’s rarely been welcome alongside Captain America and Iron Man. Now, he’s uniting with his family to change the very face of the galaxy.
In new solicit information released by Marvel, fans get to see a series of variant covers for the upcoming Imperial #1. Coming from Jonathan Hickman, Iban Coello and Federico Vicentini, the series sees Hulk, She-Hulk and what appears to be Amadeus Cho’s Brawn (but could be Hulk’s son Skaar) journey into space, intent on reclaiming Hulk’s former kingdom on the planet of Sakaar.
Each member of the Hulk family gets a stunning gladiator redesign, shown in art from Javier Garrón, Peach Momoko and Adi Granov, and are shown battling alongside (or against?) Nova and the Shi’ar Imperial Guard.

Hulk Is Marvel’s New King of Space
…But He Has Some MAJOR Competition
Marvel’s Imperial is revamping its cosmic continuity, as a mass assassination kills off the current rulers of space. In response, heroes including Hulk, Black Panther and Professor X venture out into space, becoming the new rulers of galaxy-spanning civilizations. While the Avengers may be Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Hulk is setting himself up as one of the great powers of the galaxy, and with two other Hulks watching his back and fighting for the same cause, he has more raw power at his beck and call than ever before.
What’s interesting about this transformation is why Jennifer Walters and Amadeus Cho would follow Hulk into space. When Hulk took over Sakaar during the epic ‘Planet Hulk,’ it was due to a new gladiator persona called the Green Scar emerging from Bruce Banner’s mind and responding to being enslaved on an alien world. Bruce Banner consciously setting out on a mission of conquest is a totally different proposition, especially if a high-flying lawyer and kid genius are willing to go with him. It’s likely Sakaar will reach out to Hulk asking for leadership, though Hickman’s fondness for morally gray characters could mean the Hulk Family are pursuing power for its own sake.

Hulk Isn’t Just Going to Space, He’s Becoming a New Kind of Hero
With She-Hulk and Brawn By His Side, Hulk Could Become the Most Powerful Man in the Galaxy
While the Hulk family support each other in emergencies, they have very different personalities and goals. In many ways, She-Hulk has traditionally been Hulk’s opposite – someone who is in control of her power and trusted by the wider hero community. Uniting the Hulks as gladiator warriors gives them a shared goal like they’ve seldom had, turning them into an actual, Avengers-style team, and giving Hulk the ability to deploy gamma strength on multiple fronts – exactly the kind of might you need to hold down a galactic empire.
For years, Hulk has been treated as a creature of chaos – someone who destroys the world around him even as he tries to help. Hulk has never been trusted by humanity, and Bruce Banner doesn’t even trust himself. However, on Sakaar Hulk was a beloved ruler – someone who tore down the fascistic regime of the Red King and united previously warring species. It’s therefore a huge step to take Hulk back to space, returning to the planet where he was at his most heroic and beloved, this time with his family by his side to support him. However, in a galaxy where the most powerful beings in Marvel lore are making their own grabs for powers, will the Hulk Family stay Avengers-level heroes, or be corrupted into something darker?
Imperial #1 is coming June 4, 2025 from Marvel Comics.
