In Marvel and DC Comics, Hulk
and Doomsday
are muscular monstrosities who command incredible amounts of power, with their sizable mean streaks allowing them to unlock even higher levels of strength when needed. But who would win in a drag-out brawl between Hulk and Doomsday if they ever fought in an official capacity? Luckily for fans, Marvel and DC gave their answer to that question, with the winner making complete and total sense.
Introduced in 1962’s The Incredible Hulk #1, by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and 1992’s Superman: The Man of Steel #17, by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove, Hulk and Doomsday are two sides of the same coin, with their brutish ways often being utilized for either saving the world or destroying it.
Not getting to meet in any official Marvel vs DC crossover released thus far, 1993’s Hulk #413 saw Bruce Banner knock out a very Doomsday-esque enemy, with 2019’s Watchmen-adjacent Doomsday Clock #12 straight out admitting that the Jade Giant is more powerful than Doomsday.
Marvel’s Hulk Would Triumph Over DC Comics’ Doomsday if They Ever Met on the Battlefield
Hulk and Doomsday Have Never Directly Met in Comics
Following a version of Bruce Banner known as Smart Hulk in Hulk #413, this issue sees Hulk in a Danger Room-esque virtual training session where he beats down foe after foe. Backhanding a partially obscured grey monster yelling “Doomsd—,“ it’s clear who this enemy is supposed to be, with Hulk uttering “Oh, be quiet” as he easily one-shots the brute. Meanwhile, in the final issue of DC’s Doomsday Clock, the narration explains a potential future where a “Secret Crisis” occurs and a “green behemoth stronger than even Doomsday” pays the ultimate price by dying “protecting Superman,” confirming Hulk’s ultimate strength.

The Hulk is ready to take down Galactus, and he might be assembling his own team of heroes in order to defeat the World-Eater once and for all.
Oddly, it’s been proven that Batman can beat the Hulk — as seen in 1981’s DC Special Series #27 – Batman vs. The Incredible Hulk, where the Green Goliath is neutralized after inhaling large amounts of knockout gas and getting a swift bat-kick to the solar plexus, with the idea that Hulk could easily take down Doomsday being thrown into question if a mere human, no matter how well-prepared, can subdue him so efficiently. Granted, Hulk was more outsmarted than outmatched by the Dark Knight here, so if he ever crosses paths with Doomsday for real, Hulk’s strength would surely prevail.
Hulk Is Stronger Than Doomsday Which Means He Could Take on Superman
Furthermore, with Hulk’s power growing exponentially the angrier he gets, there’s a high probability that being evenly matched with Doomsday — at least initially — would frustrate Banner to the point that he’d boil over and take Superman’s killer to task in a brutal display of violence. While it seems obvious who would win this hypothetical brawl, when it comes to who would reign supreme in a real in-continuity Hulk vs. Doomsday battle, anything could happen, with the only way to settle this debate for good being to pit this pair against each other in a brand-new Marvel vs. DC crossover event!
Hulk #413 is available from Marvel Comics and Doomsday Clock #12 is available from DC Comics.
