The Marvel drama series Silk: Spider Society is dead at Amazon, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Sources have revealed that Sony TV, which owns the rights to Spider-Man and characters in the Spider-Man universe, plans to shop the drama series from former Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang to other streamers.
Kang, who according to sources has an eight-figure deal with Amazon, will remain at the streamer and will continue to develop other projects for the company.
Silk was based on characters created by comic book writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos.

The series was an adaption of the Marvel comics, which follows Cindy Moon, a Korean-American woman bitten by the same radioactive spider that bit Peter Parker as she escapes imprisonment and searches for her missing family.
The series was set to be one of the first to be led by a Korean-American superhero.
Amazon decided to drop Silk from its slate of upcoming TV shows days after the streamer announced another Sony-produced Marvel series, Noir, starring Nicolas Cage.
The streamer may have been scared off from producing the Spider-Man-related series after Madame Web failed to perform at the box office.
The Dakota Johnson-led superhero flick grossed only $43million at the domestic box office and $100million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo, against a production budget of approximately $80-100million.
Those numbers make Sony’s Madame Web one of the biggest flops in comic book movie history.
When asked about the movie’s reception with audiences, Dakota, revealed that its failure to make a marker did not come as a shock.
“Unfortunately, I’m not surprised that this has gone down the way it has,” she told Bustle in March.
When asked about why she felt that way, the Fifty Shades of Grey star stated, “It’s so hard to get movies made, and in these big movies that get made – and it’s even starting to happen with the little ones, which is what’s really freaking me out – decisions are being made by committees, and art does not do well when it’s made by committee.
“Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them.”
She continued, “You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms.
“My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not.
“Audiences will always be able to sniff out bulls**t. Even if films start to be made with AI, humans aren’t going to f**king want to see those,” she added.
Earlier this week, Amazon renewed Mr. and Mrs. Smith for Season 2, though Season 1 stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine have yet to confirm if they’ll be returning to the Prime show.
Amazon announced the show’s renewal on Tuesday with a statement from Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke.
“We are excited to announce that a second season of our groundbreaking spy series, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, is in the works for our global Prime Video customers,” Salke said.
“The success of the first season, with its incredibly modern, sexy reinvention of the original film, is a testament to the brilliant creators Donald Glover and Francesa Sloane.
“We are proud to bring you another season filled with unforgettable journeys and new adventures.”
Amazon’s popular show, loosely based on the 2005 film starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
The new series follows two spies assigned to work together undercover in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith, played by Glover and Erskine.
However, fans were furious to find no mention of the first season’s leading actors in the statement – and some even advised the showrunners to cancel the series.
“Cancel it then,” one responded to news of the stars’ possible exit on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I very much enjoyed S1 but why am I watching S2 if these two ain’t in it?” another said.
“If Donald and Maya aren’t the stars I’m not watching tbh,” a third asserted.
“They’re not bringing Donald back. Won’t be worth watching,” another complained.
While some fans are furious about the actors possibly leaving the show, others theorized that their absence means the show is taking an anthology approach to the story.
“So, is this like an anthology series going forward then? Just a different Mr & Mrs Smith each season??” one fan guessed.
“Yeah I can rock with a rotating cast like that fr,” another added.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Amazon for comment.
The news comes as Glover, who puts out music under the name Childish Gambino, recently announced that he’s going on a world tour starting in August and continuing through February 2025.
Amazon made another announcement about their original series on Tuesday that also left fans furious.
Amazon Prime Video announced that Season 3 of its hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty has been delayed until summer 2025.
Because the first two seasons came out in consecutive summers, fans expected the third season to follow the same pattern and drop in 2024.
“Kinda rude to make me wait that long,” one upset fan tweeted about the show’s delay.
“Girl I was waiting for the third season to come out in the next few months,” another viewer said.

Though fans are outraged about having to wait a while longer until The Summer I Turned Pretty returns, Prime Video also announced some positive news.
Season 3 will have an expanded episode count from the 10 that were originally ordered as the new season will feature 11 episodes.
