A major showdown may be brewing in Avengers: Doomsday, according to a new rumor from a well-known scooper. While Marvel has not confirmed it, recent reports claim a fight scene between Doctor Doom and Magneto is currently being filmed, hinting at a possible clash between the two powerful characters.
On May 5, 2025, Marvel scooper @MyTimeToShineHello posted on X, “They’re filming a Doom vs Magneto fight,” referring to a rumored scene in Avengers: Doomsday.
Doctor Doom and Magneto have appeared together in Marvel Comics since the 1960s. They featured in titles including Super-Villain Team-Up, X-Men vs. Fantastic Four, and Avengers: The Children’s Crusade. In Children’s Crusade, Magneto confronts Doom over his role in the Scarlet Witch’s disappearance. In Doomwar (2010), Doom seeks to gain control of Wakanda and battles several Marvel heroes, including X-Men members.
Doctor Doom has tanked attacks from the Hulk, the Infinity Gauntlet, and cosmic-powered opponents. He uses advanced technology and sorcery to reinforce his armor and force fields. Magneto has generated a planet-wide electromagnetic pulse, shifted Earth’s magnetic field, and withstood nuclear explosions. Both have led major crossover events and ruled sovereign nations—Doom in Latveria and Magneto in Genosha. While rumors claim a showdown between the two in the upcoming Avengers movie, Marvel has not confirmed it.
Robert Downey Jr. portrays Victor von Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, while Ian McKellen returns as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto. Marvel Studios confirmed their casting in March 2025. The filming began on April 28, 2025, in the U.K. The ensemble cast features characters from the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, and New Avengers.
Anthony and Joe Russo direct Avengers: Doomsday. The film marks the fifth installment in the Avengers series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is currently on track to release in the United States on May 1, 2026.
