Summary
Featuring Brittany Noel (@brittanynoelcos) as Captain Carter, Pat Loika (@patloikaphotoworks) edits in the setting of World War III and showcases the character’s dedication to saving lives.
Captain Carter’s popularity, especially in the
What If…?
series, is evident through this cosplay/digital art hybrid image, sparking inspiration for more cosplayers and artists to one-up these talented creators.
The alternate universe character named Captain Carter is a variant of Peggy Carter, who acts as her world’s version of Captain America, making Peggy one of the strongest, most influential, and most wholesome heroes in the sprawling multiverse that makes up Marvel Comics. Unfortunately for Peggy, World War III has broken out in her reality, with a new cosplay image showing Captain Carter fighting the good fight as the shining beacon of hope in a world gone to hell.
An image shared on Instagram by Pat Loika (@patloikaphotoworks) — the photographer and editor of the piece — this image features Brittany Noel (@brittanynoelcos) as Captain Carter and shows both Pat and Brittany at the top of their creative games.
Snapping shots of some of the best cosplayers around, Pat has enhanced the costumes of dozens of talented people over the years — including a previous Gamora cosplay image made in collaboration with Brittany — with Brittany herself more recently bringing to life Marvel’s Taskmaster, Black Widow, and even Felicia Hardy’s Night-Spider — all to stunning results.
Marvel’s New Captain Carter Fixes Its Biggest ‘What If’ Mistake
Peggy Carter is a British character, but for some strange reason, she’s still appears to be subservient to American ideals – but not anymore.

Technically, Captain Carter did not originate in the pages of a comic, but instead was specifically created for Disney+’s What If…? animated series that saw familiar Marvel characters thrust into unfamiliar scenarios and situations compared to what their Earth-616 counterparts experienced, with Captain Carter being one of the main stars of the show, eventually leading her to receive a solo miniseries in 2022’s Captain Carter. Getting her live-action debut in the MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Captain Carter is more popular than ever, with Brittany’s cosplay and Pat’s World War III setting easily proving why.
In 2016,
Marvel Puzzle Quest
saw Peggy debut as Captain America, not Captain Carter.
Standing in the middle of a battle that’s reached the front lawn of the White House, Brittany’s Captain Carter immediately looks the part as her battle-worn Union Jack costume, Captain America-like shield, handy utility belt, raised fist, and determined expression all nail the look and feel a character who’s quickly becoming a Marvel icon. Edited by Pat with incredible imagery that sees Brittany surrounded by tanks, fighter jets, gunfire, and fiery explosions, it’s the modern-day World War III setting that really sells Captain Carter’s dedication to saving as many innocent lives as possible.
2018’s
Exiles #3
also saw Peggy become Captain America, not Captain Carter specifically.
Captain Carter Is Ready For A Fight As World War III Begins In Epic Cosplay Image
It remains to be seen if Captain Carter will return in the MCU anytime soon, so until Hayley Atwell reprises her role on either the big or small screen, Brittany Noel’s (@brittanynoelcos) take on the character made even better by Pat Loika’s (@patloikaphotoworks) impeccable photoshop skills will have to tides fans over for now. Captain Carter deserves more cosplay designs, in general, so here’s hoping this latest image inspires more creators to take on the challenge of bringing to life one of Marvel Comics’ best superhero variants!
