Call of Duty as a franchise has had some memorable antagonists over the years, and arguably the best of the lot was Vladimir Makarov from the Modern Warfare series. Makarov is part of a terrorist cell that wants to reform the world through attacks on different cities located all over the globe. His voice actor, Roman Varshavsky, lends the character a certain gravitas and that coupled with strong storytelling makes Makarov a memorable antagonist.

But Roman Varshavsky is more than just a voice actor in video games; he has appeared in several live-action television shows as well. Those familiar with his stellar work in Call of Duty are pleased to see him appear elsewhere, despite the fact that he doesn’t land the largest roles. In fact, sometimes his character doesn’t even have a name. Nevertheless, Roman Varshavsky does lend a certain presence to every role he performs, whether it be Makarov or someone else entirely.
His acting credentials are quite extensive, as expected from someone who’s been in the acting business for nearly thirty years. He’s had roles in everything from romantic dramas to supernatural young adult shows to thrillers, and some of these shows date back to the mid-1990s before Roman Varshavsky had even starred as Makarov in Call of Duty. He has appeared briefly in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is set in Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. Often, but not always, Varshavsky portrays a Russian character.
