Marv Wolfman Returns to Marvel
Wolfman, a seasoned master at crafting chilling horror tales, began his groundbreaking run in the Marvel Universe with The Tomb of Dracula, which not only introduced Dracula to Marvel but also gave birth to iconic characters such as Blade and Lilith Drake. Now, after several decades, Wolfman is expected to revisit this legacy with the new What If…? Dark story that reveals what would happen if the legendary Dracula transformed Blade into a vampire.
Reminiscing about his journey, Wolfman shared, “In 1972, I was a fledgling comics writer who mostly wrote short 2 to 8 page ‘monster’ stories when editor Roy Thomas asked if I’d like to write Tomb of Dracula, my very first series for Marvel, and the book that would jumpstart my career. So it is a real thrill now that 50-plus years later Marvel asked me to once again dive into that pool.” He also thanked Marvel for reuniting him with the characters he crafted with artist Gene Colan.

Marvel Comics’ executive editor, Nick Lowe, also expressed his excitement for this reunion, stating, “Getting Marv back on Tomb of Dracula is a bucket list check-off.” He further praised the creative energy between Wolfman and Cutler, along with the artistic expertise of Scott Hanna, while promising a tale that pays homage to the past while introducing an innovative, gripping addition to the vampire lore.
