The following contains major spoilers for All-New Venom #7, on sale June 4 from Marvel Comics.
Marvel’s All-New Venom is teaming up with one of the greatest symbiote superheroes of all time.
A preview for All-New Venom #7 from Marvel Comics drops readers into the middle of Central Park, where Mary Jane Watson and Flash Thompson are reuniting for a long-overdue discussion. As it turns out, Flash has been keeping his eye on MJ from afar, and not in any way she particularly appreciates. Of course, Flash had no intention of being untoward, especially not where one of his oldest friends is concerned. Instead, Flash was merely keeping an eye on Venom, who isn’t all that keen on letting Mary Jane eavesdrop on their conversation.

Originally introduced as Peter Parker’s high school bully, Flash Thompson has come a long way from the mean-spirited kid he was when he made his ’60s debut. After moving on from school, Flash enlisted in the United States Military and served abroad during the height of the country’s operations in the Middle East. While Flash nearly lost his life and did lose more than one limb, he was given another shot at being a part of the action under the mantle of Agent Venom. Since then, Flash has played host to Venom, Anti-Venom, and even lived as a being of pure symbiote in his own right, yet he has never wavered from doing what he thought was right in any given situation.
Like Flash, Mary Jane Watson made her debut as an otherwise ordinary if objectively extraordinary love interest for Peter Parker. Though it wasn’t until after the tragic death of Gwen Stacy that she and Peter embarked upon any meaningful relationship, she is undoubtedly the single most important person in his life when it comes to matters of the heart. Unfortunately, Mary Jane found a new romantic partner in Paul Rabin, the son of another reality’s Benjamin Rabin, aka the Emissary, who rended their world asunder by invoking his dark god. While MJ and Paul did eventually escape the latter’s apocalyptic reality and return safely to the primary Marvel Universe, the pair were already deeply involved and even had a pair of ethereal children of their own by the time they did, effectively putting the nail in the coffin that was her and Peter’s relationship.

Two of the greatest characters in Marvel and DC Comics history are about to meet their match in each other when the next big crossover arrives.
It was after the events of Marvel Comics’ Venom War crossover that Mary Jane and the Venom symbiote bonded to one another. In the months that followed, the mystery surrounding the true identity of the All-New Venom’s all-new host revolved around a wildly different cast of characters, including Rick Jones and Luke Cage.
As the suspects were checked off the list, it became more and more clear that a fifth, then-unidentified suspect was the most likely candidate, yet that still didn’t point readers in MJ’s direction in that regard. In a disappointing turn, the truth came out via a series of leaks for All-New Venom #5, which ruined the surprise for many fans.
