Warning! Spoilers ahead for Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell #2!Things are growing dire for Daredevil as an unfortunate twist proves to be the Man Without Fear’s ultimate undoing. A new, dark future for the Marvel Universe has been revealed and, while it’s brought the defender of Hell’s Kitchen back where he belongs, this status quo is temporary, and Daredevil needs to make the most out of his gifts.
In Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell #2 by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven, Daredevil is listening to the bells of St. Patrick’s. But while Matt recognizes that his powers are back, he can already hear them getting fainter as Daredevil’s enhanced senses are starting to leave him again.
With time running out, Daredevil readies his new costume and dives headfirst into danger to find the man responsible for the current chaos in New York City. As an elderly Bullseye mutilates his assistant to search for his enemy, Daredevil uses his temporarily reawakened powers to find the deranged assassin.
The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is Racing Against the Clock in One Final Mission
Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell is set in a future where Matt Murdock’s incredible senses have dimmed, leaving him just an average man in a New York that’s grown darker and cynical. Ever the saint, Matt tries to keep hope alive in his city, even if all he can manage to do is volunteer at a soup kitchen. However, an explosion in a subway unleashes radioactive gas that manages to bring Daredevil’s superhuman senses back to full strength. Matt’s ally Steve Rogers perishes saving a little girl and Daredevil resolves to use his senses to bring the perpetrators to justice.
While Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell is no more canon than the “Old Man Logan” storyline, it’s clear the stakes are incredibly high for Daredevil. He’s been out of the game for a long time, and he’s older, but he’s able to perform just like he was when he was a young man. But while he was able to get a grip on his super-senses thanks to his past, the clock is running out fast. If he doesn’t find Bullseye soon, Daredevil may lose his last chance to ensure his psychotic archenemy sees justice.
Will Matt Murdock Be Able to Stop Bullseye?
Daredevil has faced difficult odds before, but this is a doozy. He’s older, the world is crueler, and most importantly, his powers are fading by the second. While he doesn’t appear to have missed a step in his absence, his determination is only going to get him so far. Thankfully, he’s got years of experience tracking down threats in New York, so the chances are he’ll be able to bring Bullseye down. But he’ll need to act quick before Daredevil’s powers disappear for the last time.
