One of the biggest features that Neon Ichiban offers is digital signatures and remarques, which can be collected, traded, bought and sold by readers and collectors on the platform’s in-house secondary marketplace, all while maintaining their original digital provenance. Through the official Neon Ichiban pre-launch sign-up link, fans can get in line for a free digital collectible when the platform launches. Neon Ichiban will also offer same-day-as-print digital releases for a whole host of titles across a wide variety of publishers, which will only serve to further expand the massive backlist the platform is slated to already host on launch day. Participating publishers include Dark Horse Comics, DC, DSTLRY, Kodansha, Marvel Comics, Oni Press, and Vault Comics.
Co-founder and CEO of Neon Ichiban Dave Steinberger said of the platform, “Neon Ichiban is more than a store, it’s a platform devoted to bringing reading and collectability to a united global audience for comics and manga. This is the next evolution of digital comics. We’re empowering fans with access, control, and engagement – and providing creators with tools to directly connect with their audience like never before.” Steinberger has previously discussed the sale of the Comixology app to Kindle, which Steinberger oversaw during his time with the company.
