Marvel Comics has just announced the latest new title in the publisher’s Ultimate universe. A breakout Marvel character will soon star in their own Hawkeye story.

Following Hawkeye’s debut in the Ultimate Universe in last year’s Ultimates, the character of Charli Ramsey will continue their journey in a starring role in Ultimate Hawkeye #1. The first solo one-shot in Marvel’s Ultimate line, the new issue will arrive in September. Fans will remember Charli Ramsey from Ultimates #6, where they quickly became one of the series’ breakout new stars. Charli is non-binary and a member of the Oglala Lakota Nation, and they acted as a vigilante before being recruited to the Ultimates by Captain America.

While announcing the Ultimate Hawkeye one-shot, Marvel Comics also shared cover art for the issue drawn by R.B. Silva. While the creative team for the story hasn’t been shared at this time, Marvel teased it would be announced in the coming weeks while also sharing that Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri (Ultimates) will have a framing story that helps position the one-shot in the ongoing larger Ultimates narrative.

Ultimate Hawkeye #1 will reveal more of Charli Ramsey’s history to readers, with Marvel teasing how the character will go on a dangerous mission that will have far-reaching consequences. “[T]he expert archer breaks away from the team to embark on a covert operation to take out the Maker single-handedly, a mission that will have a massive impact on the future of the Ultimate Universe.”

In the original Ultimates series, Charli discovered equipment intended for Clint Barton and took it, receiving a recorded message from Tony Stark that helped them embrace their destiny as Hawkeye. During the series, Charli joined the Ultimates team and was later trapped in the Immortal City of K’Un-Lun. After a battle that nearly ended in their death, Charli was saved alongside the rest of their team by Doom, and they later appeared to return to vigilantism in the aftermath of Stark’s death.

X-Men Favorite Bishop Gets an Updated Design, See It Now

The X-Men’s time-traveling mutant Bishop will rock a new costume when he joins forces with Storm, and Marvel unveils a first look at his redesign.

Charli is the newest character to take on the mantle of Hawkeye, with the title usually being reserved for Clint Barton, the criminal-turned-hero who used his archery skills to keep the world safe in the East Coast and West Coast Avengers. The title is also regularly passed on to Kate Bishop, another hero with remarkable archery skills who often becomes Barton’s protégé and a founding member of the Young Avengers.

Marvel’s Ultimate Universe imprint relaunched in 2024 and re-imagined several classic characters in a new, fictional continuity. The universe centers around The Maker (The Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards from Earth-1610), as he shapes a new world in his image, giving many characters a new and darker timeline, often with different origin stories or completely different motives.

More details about Ultimate Hakweye #1 are expected to follow in the coming weeks ahead of its release this September.
