Marvel star Jeremy Renner divulged why there was never a second season for his hit show, “Hawkeye,” on the High Performance Podcast.

In a clip posted to TikTok by the podcast, Renner, 54, said the following: “They asked me to do a season two and they offered me half the money. And I’m like, ‘Wow, it’s going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money, and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount.’”

“I’m like, ‘I’m sorry. Why, did you think I’m only half to Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season?’”

For those who don’t know, Renner was involved in a severe, near-death accident on Jan. 1, 2023 — being rushed to the hospital “for blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries… after his Sno-Cat, a large snow plow that weighs at least 14,330 pounds, ran him over,” Variety reported.

Men’s Health revealed that Renner had 38 broken bones and a variety of internal injuries, including, but are not limited to: a contused and impacted eye, six ribs broken in 14 places, lower pelvis broken in three places, with his left foot broken in three spots, two broken toes, and a side of a foot cracked.

Renner clarified that it was not Marvel Studios or Disney responsible for the proposed slash in pay, but rather “the penny pinchers, the accountants.”

“I told them to go fly a kite,” Renner said. “I mean, just at the insult offer… so, we didn’t see eye to eye on it.”

Renner, who plays the titular Hawkeye — Clint Barton — has been a staple in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s original Avengers team since the first “Thor” movie in 2011.

“I still love the character, I still love to do it, but I had to defend myself. I didn’t ask for any more money, mind you, right? It’s just, pay me what I made the first season. So, it’s a little disheartening that didn’t happen.”
