Summary
Spider-Man 4 is likely to happen in Phase 6, as Peter Parker’s story continues and he potentially rejoins the Avengers in The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could serve as a Young Avengers movie, with young heroes stepping up to fight Kang after the main Avengers are defeated.
Some of the most popular MCU Phase 6 theories are actually plausible and could change the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever ahead of Phase 7. As the MCU’s Phase 5 continues, the anticipation for how the Multiverse Saga will be concluded in Phase 6 increases. Originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel’s Phase 6 has gone through some changes already and currently consists of three movies releasing between 2025 and 2027. In addition to the first MCU Fantastic Four movie, Phase 6 will also see two Avengers films.
Avengers:The Kang Dynasty and Avengers:Secret Wars will be the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, similar to how Avengers:Infinity War and Avengers:Endgame brought the Infinity Saga together. Fantastic Four (2025) is currently the first movie in the MCU’s Phase 6 slate, which will likely see the addition of other projects before it begins. Here are 10 massive MCU Phase 6 theories that can become true in the final part of the Multiverse Saga.
10 The Fantastic Four Already Exist (But Are Trapped Somewhere)
Marvel’s Phase 6 has the difficult mission of introducing the Fantastic Four into the MCU, where the Avengers and several other heroes have existed for almost two decades. How the Fantastic Four will join the MCU is one of the franchise’s biggest mysteries, especially because not much is known about Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie. That said, one popular and plausible theory is that the Fantastic Four already exist in the MCU but are trapped somewhere, perhaps in the Negative Zone. This would avoid telling the Fantastic Four’s origins again while also explaining why Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, the Thing, and Human Torch never helped the Avengers.
9 Spider-Man 4 Will Happen In Phase 6
Spider-Man: No Way Home concluded Tom Holland’s first MCU trilogy, but it was by no means the end of Peter Parker’s story in the MCU. In fact, No Way Home‘s ending felt like the beginning of a new saga for Spider-Man, who no longer has his friends or the Avengers by his side. Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Hollandwas confirmed to be in development at Sony, but little is known about the MCU’s next Spider-Man film. However, considering how important Spider-Man is to the MCU, especially in a post-Iron Man franchise, Peter Parker will likely return in Phase 6 before rejoining the Avengers in The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
8 The Kang Dynasty Will Be A Young Avengers Movie
The MCU has been teasing a Young Avengers project since the beginning of Phase 4, which introduced multiple legacy characters and young superheroes. A possible MCU Young Avengers project could differ from the comics and feature a unique lineup including characters like Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, Ironheart, America Chavez, Wiccan, Speed, and Cassie Lang. However, no MCU Young Avengers movie or TV show has been announced so far. One interesting theory is that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is a Young Avengers movie, which would see young heroes stepping up to fight Kang after the main Avengers are defeated. Kang is connected to the Young Avengers, which adds to this theory.
7 Doctor Strange 3 Will Happen In Phase 6 (Before Secret Wars)
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness set up several concepts that might come into play during the MCU’s Phase 6, including but not limited to Incursions and the Illuminati. Something like Secret Wars can only work if Doctor Strange is an essential part of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, which so far seems to be the case. Benedict Cumberbatch will return as Doctor Strange for a Marvel project next year, as revealed by the actor himself. Which project Cumberbatch was referring to is difficult to say, but it would be no surprise if Doctor Strange 3 happens in Phase 6, before Secret Wars.
It should not take much longer for Spider-Man Miles Morales to debut in live-action, be it in a Sony Spider-Man universe movie or the MCU. Considering that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be a relatively older, more experienced hero whenever he returns, Spider-Man 4 is the perfect opportunity for the MCU’s Miles Morales to be introduced. Donald Glover’s Prowler cameo in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse adds to this theory, as Aaron Davis mentioned his nephew in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Another possibility is that Miles Morales joins the MCU in Avengers: Secret Wars, similar to how the Ultimate Spider-Man joined Marvel’s main continuity after the events of Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars.
5 Scarlet Witch Will Return In Secret Wars (To Fight Kang)
Scarlet Witch sacrificed herself at the end of Doctor Strange to destroy every Darkhold in the multiverse. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness‘ ending plays out as if Wanda is dead, but is difficult to imagine that the MCU would kill off such an important character off-screen. When will Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch return remains to be revealed, but one likely theory is that Wanda will fight Kang in either The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars. Scarlet Witch is arguably the most powerful MCU character after the events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2. Therefore, a redeemed Wanda could be the key to saving the multiverse in Phase 6.
4 The Original Avengers Will Return In Secret Wars (Including Tony Stark)
Avengers: Secret Wars is the only MCU movie that can match what Avengers: Endgame did in terms of expectations and scale. Avengers: Endgame set the bar high for MCU crossover events, and Secret Wars will have to deliver something even bigger for it to recapture Endgame‘s magic. Thanks to the multiverse concept, the MCU’s Secret Wars could feature even more characters than Infinity War and Endgame did. While this means that legacy Marvel heroes like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man can appear, it also means that the original Avengers can return. A Robert Downey Jr. Iron Man return, for example, would be massive for Secret Wars.
3 Hugh Jackman & FOX’s X-Men Will Be In Secret Wars
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is in Deadpool 3, which has sparked theories about Wolverine having a role in the MCU’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Jackman’s Wolverine in the MCU means that Logan can finally interact with other superheroes beyond the X-Men, especially if he appears in The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars. The return of classic Marvel characters from the 2000s can be the key for The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars to rival what Infinity War and Endgame did. This was proven by No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness, both of which outgrossed their predecessors. Wolverine, Deadpool, and other X-Men characters would all be major additions to Avengers 6.
2 Maguire & Garfield Will Return As Spider-Man In Phase 6
Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both returned as their respective versions of Spider-Man in No Way Home, resulting in an instant-classic Spider-Man film that almost grossed 2 billion at the box office. No Way Home‘s success showed that audiences are interested in seeing more of the previous Spider-Men, especially within the context of the MCU’s multiverse. No Way Home did not close the door for Garfield and Maguire to return, and the best way to do it would be in Secret Wars. The three live-action, theatrical Spider-Men have experienced the multiverse and should be involved in the events of Secret Wars.
1 Phase 6’s Secret Wars Will Reboot The MCU
Marvel Comics’ Secret Wars was the culmination of a decade of stories, yet it also helped Marvel rework its universe after the Ultimate experiment. Secret Wars was both a crossover event and a soft-reboot device, which has become very common in comic books. Interestingly, Avengers: Secret Wars could serve a similar purpose to the MCU. Dealing with time travel and multiverse on a movie of that scale allows the MCU to reorganize its timeline and “reboot” the franchise in-universe. For example, Secret Wars could end with a new MCU Prime Timeline where the X-Men and the Fantastic Four have always existed, setting up a very different Marvel Phase 7.
