The Maker, Reed Richards from the original Ultimate Universe, has successfully created his own universe without heroes to defend it. A year into this new Ultimate Universe, and fans have already fallen in love with new versions of the X-Men, Iron Lad and Spider-Man in particular. Iron Lad has assembled the new Ultimates of this world with the intent of resurrecting all heroes who have lost their destinies thanks to the Maker’s time manipulations.
As Marvel moves into the next year of this new Ultimate Universe, fans would love to see past Marvel events adapted to this new world––events that further the development of their established characters or even pit heroes against each other, such as the famous Civil War and Avengers vs. X-Men storylines that would look very different within books like Ultimates, Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Spider-Man.

The Ultimate Universe Heroes Fall To Infighting
Civil War
As Iron Lad travels the Maker’s new world, he’s increasing the size of the new Ultimates team, which, of course, isn’t a bad thing. However, more hands in the pot could lead to more conflict. So far, the small Ultimates team has worked well together, but rivalries could be brewing under the surface.
The original Civil War and its sequel, Civil War II, featured Iron Man going to war against Captain America, then Captain Marvel. All it takes is one major disagreement, whether it’s a superhuman registration act or the fate of an Inhuman who can see the future, to shatter the current Ultimates into their own “Ultimate Civil War.”

Kraven Hunts Spider-Man & His Villains
Amazing Spider-Man “Hunted”
In the fifth volume of the Amazing Spider-Man title, Kraven the Hunter returned, gifting Spider-Man a version of his iconic black suit, and trapping him, along with other animal-themed characters such as the Lizard, the Gibbon and Black Cat in Central Park, creating his own hunting ground.

The Most Powerful Avengers of All Time, Ranked
The Avengers have had many incredible team lineups over the years, and some of the most powerful characters in Marvel history have joined the ranks.
In the current Ultimate Spider-Man comic series, Kraven kidnapped Peter Parker and Harry Osborn’s Green Goblin as part of an alliance with the Kingpin and other crime lords of New York City. Kraven and Spider-Man’s rivalry has only just begun in this Ultimate Universe, but a future version of the “Hunted” arc is now possible after several more encounters, depending on how long this new Ultimate Universe lasts.

Thor Loses Mjolnir
Unworthy Thor
On Earth-616, the Mighty Thor briefly lost possession of Mjolnir, losing his power along with it. While Thor became the Unworthy Thor, Jane Foster became the new female Thor, joining a version of the All-New, All-Different Avengers. Thor is a major player in the Ultimates team alongside Lady Sif.
Readers haven’t seen much of this new Asgard, though Loki did just show up in the Ultimates title. Exploring the possibility of Thor losing his hammer could allow the writers to explore the new Ultimate version of Asgard and the Nine Realms––and also allow a new character to wield it. Perhaps even someone like the Silver Surfer, who wielded Mjolnir in an alternate universe.
Avengers “Kang Dynasty”
In the Young Avengers series, Iron Lad was really a younger version of Kang who traveled back in time. This version of Kang, unlike nearly all of his predecessors, was actually a hero. Considering that Anthony Stark’s Iron Lad is the leader of the Ultimates, Marvel should consider reviving Kang in this new universe.

The Avengers have had numerous cosmic adventures that challenged the team over the years, making up some of the Marvel heroes’ best storylines ever.
Now that the MCU is pivoting away from Kang on the big screen, the classic Avengers villain deserves more spotlight in the comics, and a new “Kang Dynasty” could be the perfect vehicle to throw a wrench in Iron Lad and Doctor Doom’s plans to save the Ultimate Universe.

The Ultimates Vs. The Ultimate X-Men
Avengers vs. X-Men
The new Ultimate X-Men and Ultimates haven’t really interacted, but their rosters are expanding. With new versions of Wolverine and Jean Grey officially present in the new Ultimate Universe, Marvel has the ingredients to recreate a version of Avengers vs. X-Men in their new comic universe.
In the original Avengers vs. X-Men, the Avengers and mutants argued over how to handle the Phoenix Force problem. Cyclops ultimately bonded to the Phoenix and murdered Charles Xavier. The Phoenix, or some other conflict, could force the Ultimates and X-Men to fight––something that almost seems inevitable if this Ultimate Universe survives for another few years of publication, at least.

Hulks Rule The Ultimate Universe
“World War Hulk”
At the end of the first Ultimates story arc, the team battled the Ultimate Hulk, a Bruce Banner who has seemingly mastered his Hulk persona, using it to train in martial arts and acquire the power of the Iron Fist. With mystical power, superior strength and gamma-radiated allies, the Hulk dismantled the Ultimates and apparently killed Iron Lad.

Over the years, Hulk has accumulated quite an impressive villain roster, many of whom are stronger than the average hero could ever hope to handle.
Marvel Comics could create a new “Wodl War Hulk” storyline. They have the foundations for the story. There’s a new Hulk, a She-Hulk who joined the Ultimates, and an island filled with people affected by gamma radiation, ready to potentially evolve into allies or killing machines.

Gwen Stacy Could Come For Spider-Man Instead
Amazing Spider-Man “The Night Gwen Stacy Died”
Gwen Stacy is one of the supporting characters in Ultimate Spider-Man, though in this reality, she’s married to Harry Osborn. Harry just so happens to be the new Green Goblin, using an AI version of his father’s brain as a support system for his advanced suit.
Marvel could subvert expectations in the wake of Harry Osborn’s death in the new Ultimate Universe. While Gwen was often a victim of the Green Goblin, she could instead choose to target Spider-Man for the loss of Harry Osborn’s Green Goblin in a unique twist of the event.
Iron Man “Armor Wars”
“Armor Wars” is a famous Iron Man comic story arc where Tony Stark’s villains acquired various pieces of technology and information from Stark Industries, leading to a new scientific arms race against Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man and more.

Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, has worn some truly iconic armors over the years.
While the “Armor Wars” concept could likely turn into an MCU project, either a film or limited TV series, Marvel Comics could also revisit the concept very easily in The Ultimates. Iron Lad is fighting to return forgotten heroes and keep Howard Stark’s company safe. So much Stark/Stane tech is already out in the open that a new Armor War could easily begin.

Galactus Feasts On The Maker’s Ultimate Universe
Ultimate Cataclysm
The “Cataclysm” event brought the Galactus from the prime Marvel Comics universe into the Ultimate Universe. As Galactus fought to consume the Ultimate Universe, the Maker (Reed Richards at the time) helped open a portal to the Negative Zone, where Thor pushed the cosmic being.
Marvel could introduce a version of Galactus into the new Ultimate Universe, though his presence would completely shift the balance of power in that universe. Right now, the Maker is the biggest threat to the safety of the world, but Galactus’ return in a new “Cataclysm” event could spell disaster for all these new comic titles.

Mary Jane Watson Joins Peter Parker As Spinneret
Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows
In the Ultimate Spider-Man series, Peter’s son, Richard, has just acquired the advanced suit Peter used to wear, using it to become a new black-suited Spider-Man. With Mary Jane and a daughter in this loving family, Ultimate Spider-Man has the framework to recreate a beloved miniseries from the new Secret Wars era, Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows.
In Renew Your Vows, Mary Jane became a superhero called Spinneret, and her daughter became Spiderling. Ultimate Spider-Man could absolutely recreate the Spider-Family in a new universe, appeasing fans who just want Peter and MJ to live a happy life together.
